Back to the routine

Janurary is back in full swing.  I am gone almost every night of the week. Our connection group has started meeting more regularly on Sunday evenings. I joined a bible study with Stonebridge church's women on Acts that meets on Monday nights. It is an inductive study, therefore it has much homework. I joined the Women's self defense class through Luke's taekwondo gym with his instructor Master Phillips.  It is like the Krav Mawga class without all the intensity, cardio, and sweaty hard core men. The class of women meets on Tuesday and Thursday night. This week, I attended my part 2 of the Women's pistol class. The class took 3 hours in the evening. Jayden wanted to take it with me, but had college meetings. By the time I get through all my classes, nobody is going to want to mess with me. I really enjoyed the class and learned about revolvers. This time I used a semiautomatic .380, it is called a mini 9mm. It had larger ammo and more power than the last class gun I used a 22. We practiced shooting quick rounds like 3 shots in a row fast. We also fired at three targets starting in the center then left then right. Our instructor is so good at teaching and demonstrating correct technique. Last we fired using one hand and using our left hand. At the beginning of the night, I was a little nervous and didn't shoot well my first rounds. Then I was on and did really well. When I did the multi target shots, I shot the three targets in almost the exact same spot both times. I also shot the best when I used my left hand alone, kind of crazy. I enjoy shooting targets, it is sure a stress release. On Wednesday and Thursday evenings we have youth group activities and taekwondo. On Thursday's mid afternoon Luke has a guitar lesson and in between guitar and taekwondo we have all been volunteering at Overflow. THis week on Sunday after church Jayden headed back to Iowa State in Ames after a long month break.  It makes me sad that she is going back and I miss her. I miss her smile, doing our hair and make-up in the bathroom together while listening to her crazy Texas country music. I miss her silliness and always making us laugh. She is the calm in my crazy days here with all these male species. I am going to miss her like crazy when she goes to OK.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
