We've been roping 2 to 3 times a week. Mark does the roping while I haze. My job is to keep the steer off the fence and running straight. We have been gradually having Jake haze more and getting him used to it. He's been doing great. Roan is way too slow for the job, so Ace is usually the preferred horse. The last time I rode Ace, he kicked his back feet in the air and on one run he did a little buck. Neither really phased me and neither seemed to fierce. Today I hazed 5 steers off Ace, then let Jake haze a few. Ace came out of the box one stride and on the second stride kicked his back feet in the air and went to bucking. He bucked about 4 more hops and Jake was getting more and more off centered and was coming farther out of the saddle until finally he hit the ground. Mark, Luke, and I were all there to see it happen. I felt so bad and was afraid he would be hurt. He hit the ground on his side and got up ok. He was tough about it and was more surprised than anything. We had him get back on and ride some more. I was disappointed in Ace and wished it wasn't Jake. He isnt a big fan of riding horses anyway. We decided Ace probably wouldn't be our haze horse for awhile.
