Friday morning Mark had his semi hauler Ennis deliver his third Salford leaving the state. This haul was headed to Columbia Missouri. Two days ago Casey hauled a Salford to Trenton Missouri. Today's load was the widest one that has been hauled and required two pilot cars. Mark asked if I wanted to take some pictures and video. The truck was late arriving and I headed to the shop around noon after it was already on the trailer. Normally Mark does all the loading and hook up outside, but today he decided to do things in the shop. This turned out to be very fortunate. There was no rain forecasted, but it started to rain a little before 1. I was videoing the semi backing up to the trailer and loading the 500lb. box of coulters when Mark ran by telling me to put my tahoe in the shop, a storm was coming. The guys were running in every direction, Mich pulled his truck in, Leah pulled her car, I drove my tahoe, and Tony the service Dodge. I ran through a deep puddle getting to my car and could barely see driving. It really came out of nowhere. There were 2 guys sitting in the pilot cars out by the old shop in the heavy rain. Next the winds picked up wickedly like a hurricane. Then we heard hail, it was small pea and marble size and not much of it. We would open the shop entry door and look out every now and then. Then the winds shifted direction from north to south changed to south to north. It blew and blew and hailed a few drops here and there and then it was over. We got over 3.5 inches of rain in that downpour and 4 inches in the last 24 hours. We had a few limbs down in our yard. Later we drove around checking crops. We were very fortunate not to have heavy damage. A few fields had some damage, but will recover. We heard hail damage was heavy south of Ogden and around Des Moines. Later in the evening we drove around and saw the bad damage, whole fields were destroyed.
