Since the 4th of July fell on a Sunday, Williams had their town celebration on Saturday the 3rd. Luke went up a day ahead to spend the night with grandparents and go to the parade with Alivia. He enjoyed hanging out with Alivia and her friends. She hangs out with some new friends since going to school in Webster City. It has caused her to dress and act much older than she is. Jake raked hay and washed a semi before the rest of us headed to Williams. It was such a hot day and I really didn't care to go to the parade, so we just went to my parents for the evening grill out. It has been tradition for many years to see the DeDecker's on the 4th. They typically park their camper at my parents and stay the weekend. Debbie always brings her scotcharoos, everyone's favorite, and Dad grills. We had a nice evening visiting in the air condition. Once it was dark we went into Williams for the fireworks. We parked at the church and DeDecker's set up chairs on the grass with Mark and the boys. I sat in my car, I am not a fireworks fan, they are too loud and dangerous. So many people shoot them off all over the place just a few feet away. I have seen to many mishaps to feel comfortable around them. I have never understood the draw to them.
On the 4th we we went to church in Ames, Jake went to the Good Guys car show with his buddies in Des Moines. It was a hot one, so he didn't stay long. In the evening we roped. We like to rope at 7, that means catch horses at 6, run the steers in, and usually finish around 9. Once horses were fed and we headed in, it was close to 10. Mark fired up the grill and started cooking brats. We told Jake he could invite his friends and we would shoot off some fireworks. I thought it would be a good chance to meet Jake's friends and hoped that they could hang out at our home more. Mark was acting little crazy while the boys were here trying to be funny. I am not sure what they thought of that. Jake was pretty embarrassed and got upset when Mark was trying to tease the boys shooting off fireworks right next to their car. Sadly, I doubt those boys will come back.
