Jake's been working for Nate since March of 2020. He worked through COVID and he went to work after his DMACC class whenever he could. He has learned a lot with autobody, mechanics, and all kinds of automotive maintenance. He has also learned how to work under all kinds of situations. He has been yelled at plenty, he has had good days and bad days. Some days the boss is in a talkative kind mood and some days in a bad mood. He has learned how to work with others that think they know it all or some that need him to show them or correct them. He has been treated all different ways. Jake brought one of his DMACC friends out to meet Nate and see if he could get a job. Sure enough his buddy was hired. The first week on the job his buddy complained to Nate about the pay and threatened to leave and get a different job. After 2 weeks, he gave both boys a raise. Jake who has been there a year and his friend who has been there a week now have equal pay. That didn't seem at all right to me, but it didn't seem to bother Jake. Nate has been dangling the idea of a raise in front of Jake for a year, but never gave him one. Then after our trip to MT, Nate gave the other boys another $1 raise and told Jake he needs to show up more. I don't get it!? Jake isn't working at Nate's a full 40 hour week, he works when he can, but usually 3-5 days. However, he has been there over a year. I was sad for Jake and he felt pretty discouraged. He has to do plenty here for our farm and can't work full time. Giving the other boys a raise over him seemed cruel.
