Lincoln NE Rodeo

Jayden had a couple of her rodeo team members leave their horses in our stalls Thrusday night so they could leave first thing Friday morning. It saved them all an extra night hotel and expenses. The girls left at 6:30AM friday morning headed for Lincoln Nebraska's college rodeo. I left at 8:30AM with my traveling partner, Luke. The drive was 3.5 hours, ours took longer with our stops. Traffic was heavy in Omaha, the speed limit was 75. The slack started at 1:00 and we arrived around a quarter till. Jayden was 38th to go. The arena was a good sized indoor with the fastest time being run by Alyssa Lockhart. She is leading the region and her mother is an NFR Pro barrel racer. She won the weekend rodeo with a 15.08. Jayden did not have the run she hoped to end her college rodeo season with. Astro always has a great first barrel, however her second was a little wide and third he went really wide. We are always amazed at her time, a 16.0, knowing the potential. If she could run a perfect pattern without any extra room, she would be placing if not winning. That is bitter sweet, and can make it just that much harder.
Luke and I went to the famous Fort Western wear and did a little shopping. We went to the evening performance. Jayden, Konnor, and another girls were asked to be part of the goat dress up race for entertainment. It was comical. Konnor was a track star, so had some speed and could outrun anyone. THe ISU girls team of three won the competition. Later back at the pool Luke was greatly disappointed in his swim trunks ready to hit the pool The water was so cold he didnt put more than his feet in. I just hate undeated pools. We went back and watched more barrel racing as Jayden entered a morning jackpot. More frustration for Jayden as her run didnt go well and Astro took a leap at second barrel. Her team members were also not treating her to well and she wasnt having a very good time. Luke and I drove home stopping at a Farmall museum. They had so many tractors, toys, and everything red.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
