We see Jayden more this semester than last. Lately she has been staying in Ames three nights out of the week. She goes to class on Tuesday and heads home on Thursday evening.
Jayden is a social person, likes people, is friendly, and likes to talk. She has had a hard time with getting to know people and having friends. She was most looking forward to making new freinds at college. It has not been easy. She goes a little stir crazy and I cant say that I blame her. Her roommate keeps the blinds closed, lights off, and spends a large part of her day in bed. If that's not depressing enough, she now has all her belongings packed up, things off the walls, and stored ready to move at the end of the semester in a little over two weeks. I can't say that I blame her for not wanting to stay in Ames. She seems happy to be home, she is her shinning self, making us laugh, being silly and just doing her own thing. She will ride her horses every day that she is home. She sometimes gets together with Erica and often goes to barrel races on the weekends. It really is too bad she doesn't have friends to do stuff with.
On this night, there was a snow cone truck that came onto the lawn of her dorm with free snow cones, hot dogs, food, and lots of jammin music. She asked her roommate if she would like to go down to the food truck and she told Jayden she had eaten a late lunch. Jayden explained she didnt have to get food, just could go for fun, she said, "No, Im good." that kind of sums her up for the semester, doesn't want to be at college, sleeps all the time, and wont do anything with Jayden no matter how much she asks. Her two friends on her dorm floor told her they would meet her to eat dinner together and wouldn't show up for the 3rd time and they stopped talking to her. She has put forth the effort to be part of her church connection group. She has a hard time bonding with the girls, they really haven't included her and they all talk about their serious relationships. Every single one has a boyfreind, except Jayden.
As for boys, there is one that she was kind of excited about. Jayden met a friend at college who lives in the Huxley area. He has graduated from ISU and has a couple jobs. He is big into show animals, mainly cattle and hogs. They had been talking and he asked her to go along with him to deliver a pig. So her first date with him was to deliver feed and deliver a show hog. I find that comical. She told me they drove all over to deliver far away and had some good talks. He drives a really big truck that she is all about. He also drove his big truck one night through campus around her block and revved the engine for her. She was in her dorm room and he called and told her to look out the window. He was showing off for her. He strings her along through social media, sending her messages, but never seems to find the time to get together. He keeps himself so busy he never makes plans, yet seems to have enough time to go out with the guys. He just keeps stringing her along telling her he wants to get together or go out. This has been going on for almost a month now and she is fed up. Each time she gets excited, gets her hopes up, then nothing. Most guys if they are interested would make time to see a girl. Its a strange deal. I am so sad for Jayden. She is fed up with everything about college.
The past two weeks on Wednesday's, she knows I am in town and she has nothing going on after only one class of the day. Last week I picked her up after dropping Jake at youth group. I had 3 hours of time with nothing to do. I had all my errands run and groceries so I suggested going to a movie. She just wanted to talk instead. We drove around awhile and parked and just talked. We laugh a lot. We really are each others best friend. I am sad for her and pray for friendships, christian relationships, and I pray for her future boyfriend and husband. Tonight Was a fabulous night with the sun shinning and I wanted to jut go walking. I messaged Jayden to see if she would like to go. I honestly didn't think she would want to, but she said sure. We went to a nearby park with a long walking path and walked about 3 miles then sat in the truck when it got dark. We talked and laughed. I love spending time with Jayden and I see her so much. I cant help but wonder how she will do next year 8 hours away in a little dinky town with a little dinky college not knowing anyone. I will miss her like crazy.
