Tuesday through Thursday we all went different directions and had different plans. Luke was still at kids camp. Jayden stayed home to take care of all the many animals and invited friends over. With Brianna and Morgan over, the girls had a great time with the house to themselves, eating munchies, watching movies, and being girls.
Mark and I went to St. Louis to an Agrigold conference. They always put us up in a classy expensive hotel and pamper us for the 24 hours we are there. Mark and I went a day early to have a short vacation. We arrived Tuesday night and went out for a great dinner. Wednesday morning we walked down to the St. Louis Arch and Mark rode it too the top. Because of motion issues I did not want to attempt it. We also met Mark's cousin Doug and he took us to a unique restaurant that was formerly a prison. We actually sat and ate inside a prison cell. The food was BBQ so we enjoyed it. Mark had Agrigold meetings and I went with the ladies for canvas painting. Most of the women kept to themselves and were quiet. In the evening we had several hours of appetizers, drinks and meet and greet the AgriGold Reps. They had a really cool bar that you could sit outside and overlook the city, way up high overlooking everything even the St. Louis Cardinals baseball stadium. We watched the storm clouds roll in and soon we had to leave the balcony because of all the lightning before it began to pour. It was quite an experience seeing lightning roll in when you are that high on a building. Most of the people at the convention are farmer's experiencing drought conditions in and around St. Louis. This rain was refreshing, however it was only a small area in the city that got the rains.
On our way to St. Louis we noticed how bad the crops looked the farther south we went. Southern Iowa was pretty burnt and in a drought. We took Jacob to Verna Mae and Laverns house. Verna Mae fixed us a great lunch with all the fixins. We even had peach cobbler for dessert. Kallie Mae and Hannah joined us for lunch too. Jake stayed the next couple days. He spent some good quality time with LaVern. He respects and admires those older than him. He loves to share stories and hear of their younger years and any stories they have. He loves Lavern and would have spent longer if he could. He was sad to leave and looks forward to going again.
