Sunday evening Jake and I took Luke to Kid's camp. It is a Cornerstone run camp with all Cornerstone church counselors. Luke was very excited to go. We got all packed and ready, heading to Hidden Acres at 4:00. Luke was not going to camp with a friend or anyone he knew and this was his first time at camp. I was a little worried about that, but also knew Luke meets and makes friends easily. We got Luke checked in and took him to his cabin deep in the woods. The A frame tree toppers were a long long walk to all the activities. Luke would be doing lots of walking this week. We found his cabin and right away Jake knew one of the counselors, known as Perry Platypus. He was excited to see Jake and get to have his little brother in his cabin. He was very outgoing and friendly. There were boys in the cabin, parents setting up, and only space to walk single file. It was beyond tight. In fact they had over packed the room. The cabin was to sleep 10 on bunk beds and they were squeezing in 13. That meant some of the boys had to sleep on a mattress on the floor in between beds. I gave Luke a hug and sent him off to camp for 4 nights. I saw so many families, parents and kids that I knew from Cornerstone. Again it makes me miss it, I felt like those are my people. I prayed for him to make friends, have fun, and most important learn and grow in the Lord. Cornerstone had a facebook page with daily photos. It was fun to try and find Luke in the pictures. He did stick out in a few pictures, the only kid in the entire camp wearing his blue jeans and boots. Another day cut off blue jeans. 99% of the kids wear sports shorts. Luke would never wear that type of shorts unless he was going to bed or playing soccer. He is funny about his clothes style. While at camp the kids could do a variety of things, Luke said he was paired up with another boy for his whole stay that wasn't very cooperative. He did some paddle boating and crafts. One night all the campers had to wear the costume they brought of an elderly person. Luke wore his bib overalls and long gray beard. When he came home from camp he was excited to tell me all about it and the friends he made. He had a really good time. He memorized the verse for the camp. It is such a great verse for him to know and for all of us to live by.
