In August, Hurricane Harvey hit HOUSTON (AP) — Floodwaters reached the rooflines of single-story homes Monday, August 21 and people could be heard pleading for help from inside as Harvey poured rain on the Houston area for a fourth consecutive day after a chaotic weekend of rising water and rescues. The nation’s fourth-largest city remained mostly paralyzed by one of the largest downpours in U.S. history. The Coast Guard said it also had rescued more than 3,000 by boat and air and was taking more than 1,000 calls her hour.
September 20, Maria could be the most destructive Atlantic storm on record. Research by the Climate Impact Lab suggests that no larger area has been hit so comprehensively anywhere in the world in the past 60 years. Hurricane Maria — a powerful Category 4 hurricane with 150 mph winds — made direct landfall on Puerto Rico, bisecting the entire island and drenching it with feet of rain. What’s happened since has been truly catastrophic for Puerto Rico. A month after, there’s still little power on the island. In many places, there’s still no water to drink or bathe in or to flush toilets. There’s limited food and cell service, and dozens of remote villages have been completely cut off from everything for weeks. The people of Puerto Rico have not received the help the mainland has. Many point the finger at Trump.
So many hurricanes, so much disaster and devastation. God is shaking us up trying to wake us up.
Our country is dealing with many major catastrophic events, wild fires, hurricanes, flooding, and even nuclear threats from North Korea. It is frightening to see and hear the news. In times of tragedy often times you see people helping people. When a home is destroyed and flood waters are rushing by, people reach out a hand to help. It doesn't matter if they are black, white, democrat, republican, christian, muslim, jew, homosexual, hispanic, male, or female. Everyone comes together fighting to survive. That is how we are meant to be all the time. There should not be a dominance, we are all created equal. God wants us to love our neighbor as ourselves and what better way. Disasters are frightening and horrible causing a lot of desperation and many will seek God amidst the chaos. In Deut 6 it states to be strong and courageous for the Lord is with you. If we know God is with us, we can persevere through the storms and he will not forsake us.

CNN-Hurricane Irma is the strongest Atlantic basin hurricane ever recorded outside the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. It lasted as a hurricane from August 31 until September 11. The storm, which stretched 650 miles from east to west, affected at least nine US states, turning streets into rivers, ripping down power lines, uprooting trees and cutting off coastal communities.
On September 6, Hurricane Irma left a string of small Caribbean islands devastated. The eye of the hurricane passed over Barbuda, damaging about 95% of the buildings on the island. The hurricane hit southwest Florida on September 10, battering the state's lower half and leaving a trail of tornadoes and storm-surge flooding as its core slowly moved inland.
