County Fair Horse Show

Saturday, Jayden got up by 6:45 to feed and the horse show started at 9. I was glad we had the Bloomer trailer with living quarters. I was getting used to sleeping in it. Grandma and Grandpa Wahlert, Alice and Grandpa Muench all came to watch. It was hot and kept getting hotter. It seems to be the standard fair, it can be nice all week, but when the horse show rolls around it must be the hottest, 90's kind of hot. Tiny was up first in halter. He was a little nervous and whinnied the entire time. He was a little excited and tried to jump and kicked his back feet up by the judge. That probably did not earn her any extra points. He won his class and a trophy. Joker went in for halter class and took 3rd. First and second are horses that win the IA state fair, so getting third was a big deal. Joker looked so good, he could be a halter horse. He is a beautiful animal. Tiny did in hand trail for Jayden and he was great! He went through the gate, over the bridge, did his trotting with ease. He walked on to the tarp, stopped and then took a leap off. It was cute and funny to see. She had a pony for her competition and still won the class. Joker had a harder time in his trail class. He did not go over the bridge, had a hard time backing through a u trun, and didnt side pass as far as he needed. It was good for him to try and to get the experience. Jayden took Joker in walk and trot and western pleasure. She did a good job in her classes and all of this was so good for her 4 year old. She also took Tiny in the costume class. It was the cutest thing, Jayden made a great rodeo clown and Tiny was her bull complete with a bell and horns. The horse project is getting smaller and Jayden only had one girl in her classes, the entire senior division grades 10, 11, 12.
The horse show was over around 3. We rested until 5 when the sweet corn feed started. Jayden helped his club with ice cream sales. It was unbelievably hot 94 with heat index over 100 at 6:00 at night. I almost couldn't stand eating at the sweet corn feed. Jake did his member duty and worked in the ice cream stand with his club.
Mid day during the horse show, Luke grabbed my hand and told me to come watch him. He had signed up for the tractor pull and wanted to make sure I was there to see. Hot and tired and trying to stay on top of the horse show classes, I slipped away just long enough to watch Luke. He is a slim kid and some of the kids he competes against are stocky big or atheletic. I had seen Luke in these competitions before and was going to be there for moral support. His little legs pedaled and pedlaed that John Deere tractor for all ist worth. He was inching along when finally the man told him to stop as he had completed a full pull. It was the only one of the day ans sure enough he won the 9 year old division! Wahoo, he was so excited, he even got a big medal!

Mark went with his sisters and mom to the triplets birthday party. Cousin Kellie hosted the big 50th birthday at her home.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
