A Hot One

It has been 1 month since Marks surgery. At 2 weeks he was driving and moving without crutches. He still spends most of his time in his recliner. I really think he has been enjoying his break, his time at rest and wanted to sit in his recliner as long as he could. He was feeling pretty good, started going to physical therapy and was getting around. At 3 weeks he was starting to get his ache again in his back. Now he is popping his ibuprofen morning noon and night all over again. It makes me sad to see him back on pills. This is his second hip surgery and both were done in hopes of helping his back pain. He gets it on one side just above his hip bone. He never had pain in his hip or felt like his hip was a problem. The orthopedic surgeon thought and hoped this would help. Time will tell and I keep praying he can have relief and get rid of his pain.
The heat is on!! I can be thankful the county fair is not this week. The humidity came back this week along with the heat and today alone the heat index is reaching around 110 in parts of the state. I was outside in the morning with Jayden for some horse lessons with the Spencer girls. It was still a bit overcast until late morning, then wham the heat was out in full force. I have decided I want to hibernate and stay in my A/C the rest of the week! I should be able to with nothing on the schedule for the rest of the week. Let's see if it stays that way. Laundry, cleaning, organizing, blogging, and reading.
It took a few days to recovery from the county fair, rest up, unload, unpack, laundry, etc.Luke had a guitar lesson bright and early Monday morning. It was rough on him to get up and get going. He was a grouch! Later, CeJay invited Luke over and spend the night. It was good timing to keep Luke occupied. He was super excited and had a good time. I am so glad he has found a buddy! That is an answer to prayer. Our trial farrier named Robert came and noon to shoe 3 horses and didn't leave until 5. It was terrible hot and he was building homemade shoes just for the experience.
This week we tried to stay in the A/C and get some rest. CAT naps were a must.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
