Walmart Blah

This is just a rant on Walmart. I have never been a fan of Walmart. It’s the last place I will shop and I avoid it most of the time. Pioneer Woman products are sold there, so once in awhile I make a stop just for those products. Why on earth PW choose Walmart to sell her merchandise I will never understand. In a town like Ames with multiple shopping options, Walmart tends to draw the most interesting eccentric people. My shopping experience today was to be a quick in and out grab two things and be done. First there was the loud mom with the 3 loud kids. The teenage boy was pushing his two siblings in the cart all between ages 4 and 14. They could be heard continuously through the whole store. They had the loudest inside voices and would bicker even louder. Soon the younger ones were yelling and throwing tantrums. The mom just yells and makes a bugger scene. It was awful. I observed a tall skinny mail carrier in uniform with a box of kids cereal and loaded up on Little Debbie everything from Ho Ho's to Twinkie’s and cupcakes. I saw a couple guys wearing stocking caps and heavy flannels even though it was 80 degrees. I saw an employee with rainbow hair. I saw a lady wearing full pajamas at 4:39 in the afternoon. Once I headed to the front to pay, all I needed to do was check out. In the past 3 or 4 years Walmart’s have added more self- checkout areas. This is great for those that have 3-5 items. In the last two years it has been all self check and only one checker. wow for Walmart cutting out more jobs. They have already closed most of the small business's across the country and now they are eliminating more jobs. Today and the past year when I go to checkout there is a giant line at the self -check station and only one checker at a regular lane. This makes me so angry. I wait either way and sometimes for long periods of time. It kind of defeats the pint of the quick self check. I can also assure you there are plenty of people sneaking items into their shopping bags without paying. How could they not? It just seems ridiculous. Today I decided to wait on the regular checker. My guy was either special needs, uneducated, or a drug burnout. He tried to carry on a conversation with me, but he lacked the intelligence to really make any sense. I was polite and tried to talk with him. By the time I gather my grocery bags, I cannot get out of the store fast enough. I always feel that way. It is always such an unpleasant experience. Target has always been my favorite place to shop for supplies,. They have a classier store, quality products, and everything feels cleaner and more professional.  However, in recent years seeing their pride signs, products and employees frequently going through physical gender alterations, it has really made shopping Target quite uncomfortable. I feel yucky when I leave the store. I really wish there were more options for large department stores.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
