8/1/21 Sunday we attended church in Fort Dodge for Everly Joy's baby dedication/baptism. The emphasis is on the parents dedication to raising their child up to know, love, and serve the Lord, and also perform a baptism with water. Evie is so adorable, she looked like a little dolly in her frilly dress. She is so photogenic and cute. Matt and Libby have been awesome parents and today they went all out in celebrating. They invited a lot of family and some friends. Their were 30+ people who went back to Matt and Libby's for lunch. They gave tours of their newly renovated home and the barns. Matt has done so much carpentry, it is amazing. In their home, he made a kitchen butcher's block, coffee table, dinner table, head board/ footboard for their bedroom, and much of the walls and ceilings all using beams and barn boards. It is so neat. Their house is really really nice. Matt is also fixing up an apartment in one of the barn lofts. He does great work. He does projects for people in his free time. Lunch was served in the shop with lots of good food. It was a prefect day in the upper 70's. A week ago we were experiencing upper 90's.

Grammer and Po got a new dog from Abby. It is a mixed breed with Great Pyrenees cross. Those are huge fluffy dogs. The puppy is already 4 months and big. His name is Bernard and he is really cute. I think it will be nice for them to have a dog. We brought him over one day for some play with our dogs. He is full of energy and likes to run hard and plow right into you like a bulldozer. I am not sure if he has figured out how to stop.

8/5 We made plans to meet our freinds at our favorite steak place in the middle. We meet at Rube's in between Cedar Rapids and home. Unexpectantly because of shortage of staff, we had an hour and a half wait. Luckily the Meskwaki casino was a couple miles away. We went there for entertainment. It wasnt too pleasant, loud, smoky, people in wheelchairs and with walkers. We put a few dollasrs in slot machines and wandered around. THe fun began when we were back to the restaurant. We get to hand pick our cut of meat and sidees. Then we head to the grill to cook our own

Becuase Torrie and Jake had a destination wedding in Montana, they wanted to have a reception back in Iowa as well. So we had yet another wedding celebration. It was held near Jefferson at a relative;s home out in the shop. It was another really hot evening in an outdoor shop. Darrel and Lauren and their girls came up too. They made plans to stay with us. I cleaned, prepared, and got the rooms ready for our company. Late in the day, they said they were behind schedule and would stay in a hotel. This has happened many times. They did stay the night of the reception. The girls are always so cute and funny. Quinn is pretty quiet and sweet. Reese is just funny and can get pretty wild. They really enjoyed the new puppies and being around our big kids. There may have been some pillow fights after breakfast at Karen's before they headed back to St. Louis. Jayden returned form OK and arrived at the reception. She came back to spend a little time before heading back for her final semester of college. She brought two puppies from Sage's litter, one for Luke and one for Alivia.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
