On November 2, we wrapped up another harvest season. It started out wet and muddy and we dreaded a long harvest. Once things were fully dry, Mark and his crew went hard and never quit. It is such a relief and weight off his shoulders when it is all done. A couple minor break downs and one day stuck in the mud, but keeping everyone safe was the biggest goal. We had a great crew of help, Mike, Tony, and Linde. On a couple Saturdays, Mich came and helped and one day C.J. Grandpa Po did most of the combine driving. With a bad knee, he typically spent his days in the recliner taking naps, however he managed to keep rolling through harvest. Luke enjoyed helping Po as much as possible. He got to sit in the driver's seat and take over. He drove, extended the auger, and dumped on the go. He could do it all without help. He was feeling so big and is ready to run it all season next year. Oh boy!
Jake was so helpful in the field, on several occasions, Mark had to have him run the grain cart for the whole day. He took to the job well and did a great job. It was hard for Mom to see him in that giant green machine all on his own.
On the last couple passes of harvest, Mark had Luke in the combine and Jake was in the grain cart. He sat back and watched with his camera. I wish I had been there to see it. The Muench Brothers running the show!
And then there is Jayden, she took the big Bloomer trailer with two horses and hauled them all alone to a horse trainer 2 1/2 hours away in Seymour, Iowa. She needed some ground work and some fine tuning of Astro and Joker. She had to drive that big ol trailer through the 80 and I-35 interstates. I always worry about her when she is on the road.
My babies are growing up!
