ICCC Rodeo

Luke is such a little sponge. he remembers things really well and pays attention to what is going on around him. He is up on current events and catches bits and pieces of the news and knows more about what is going on than I do. He follows politics and knew all about the Kavanaugh trial. He is really something.
The past two weeks I have gotten to see Jayden more than I would have imagined. She has called me on Wednesdays and ends up going out to eat when I am in Ames with the boys going to taekwondo and youth group. Then she heads home on Thursday and spends the weekend at home. She tells me college is like a prison and she feels a little trapped. She gets her homework done easily and has way too much free time. She just doesnt know what to do with herself. Her roommate is generally in bed and sleeping at 8:30 at night and she keeps their room at 60 degrees. Jayden hangs out in her friends rooms for that very reason.

ICCC Rodeo
Jayden got up early, loaded her horses and was at the Iowa Central Community College grounds in Fort Dodge by 7AM. Mark tried to get in the field only to get rained out. Luke and I went to watch Jayden run at the 9AM slack. My parents made sure not to miss it and came to cheer her on also. They are her biggest supporters and fans. It was cold, 50 degrees cold and high humidity that was cold to the bone. We had coats, but that wasnt enough. ICCC had a culinary arts group making breakfast burritos that were amazing and helped warm you up a little. Today Jayden had Ace warmed up and ready to run. She was excited an anxious to see how he would do for her having had 2 months away from running barrels. I have been saying all along, the horse needed a mental break. Ace entered the arena perfect and blasted to the first barrel, wrapped it tight and all three barrels were tight. It was probably the best run I have seen her make on Ace! They were quite a team. If those two could do that every single run, wow the places they could go. She ran a 15.33 second run and a 14.8 was the fastest time all weekend. The fastest time is a Lockhart, daughter of NFR barrel racer Lisa Lockhart who was also there watching...kinda cool! Jadyen ended up 15 out of 93 barrel racers. She was very close to making the top 12 for short go. Ace did so good and she was super happy!

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
