I was doing the dishes at 10:30PM, I was cooking supper at 8:30. The longer daylight hours just mean we go that much longer in the day. We finished taekwodno for the season and this week was the last church youth group, so that means two less activities. However, we just move on to a new kind of busy, spring planting, soccer, and rodeo. Today was a beautiful day with sunshine and warmth. After school and lunch, we spent a lot of the day outdoors. Jake likes to watch his hens wander, scratch, eat bugs, and take dirt baths. It is the third day that all 9 hens were turned lose for the first time on our farm. So far they are all doing quite well. The little chickens are growing and are fun to watch running around the horse stall. I never dreamed we would be chicken farmers.
Jake has a project with Mark, today the pulled out the red M tractor. He is anxious to get it running. Later, Luke got Mark to help him shoot the BB gun, then set him lose to shoot on his own. He also spent a lot of his time roaming on the 4 wheeler. In the evening our whole family did some riding. The roping and riding nights are why we get in so late. By the time I get supper on the table and everyone gets a bath it is late. Mark, Jayden, and I are a pretty sad sight at bedtime. We are all rubbing essential pain relief oils on and sleeping with ice packs. I get it in the back, all my muscles just feel tight and painful. I also have been feeling it in my shoulders more lately. I get sharp pains. My wrists don't have a lot of strength anymore and sometimes I get sharp pain. My right knee doesnt have the flexibility in it and gives me a little trouble. I know eventually it will be a problem. It sure is the pits getting old. Mark recently talked to his doctor and found out he will have to have hip surgery. He gets all his pain in his lower back/top of his hip area. He has pain all day, every day. He has been taking ibuprofen morning, noon, and night for years. I worry about him. He has come to the notion that everything hurts anyway, so he might as well keep riding. Jayden gets so achey and painful after riding. Things hurt her anyway, but the riding really aggravates all her problems. Her knees hurt her the most and after riding they keep her up at night. Even with Tylenol and ibuprofen she still hurts. She also has a lot of pain in her back. She is much too young to hurt so much. She gets tired and runs out of energy. We love our horses, but sometimes I wonder if they are just causing our bodies to fall apart.
