Spring Lake

>6/30/16 This week was our Spring Lake cabin stay. I packed so much stuff in the pickup that I had to squeeze the boys in the front seat together. We were busting at the seams. The back had all the bikes and more. They were excited and so was I. This is my kind of fun.  Back in Februaruy I rented two cabins for 4 nights. I wanted one cabin for our family and the other cabin, Mom & Dad, Wade & Carina, and Aunt Alice could take turns staying in. Last year everyone thought the cabin was so neat and wanted to stay. It sounded good until the week of. I had to reschedule things and say no to events in order to commit to the stay. It seemed like everything was going on the week I had reservations.  I made it a priority and was going to Spring Lake no matter what.  My parents and Alivia, stayed the first two nights. Carina and Alice came down for an afternoon, but nobody could stay the last two nights. After 3 nights, the boys were starting to ask to go home, so sadly, I made arrangements and got out of the last night. Jayden was at Clear Lake with her youth group friends and only came for an evening to the cabin. Mark came for two dinners. I enjoy the cabin as do the boys. It is quiet and peaceful. We unplug from the computer, internet, television, and phone calls. The cabins are so nice tucked away in a peaceful wooded area. I had meals planned out for the entire week, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had a list for everyone to help with the grocery list for food. Grandpa had to go to town and get his morning coffee, Wade had to make a moutnian dew and donuts run, and Mawgee had to do some shopping. We spent a lot of time on the beach watching the kids play in the water a couple times a day. One day I floated on my raft and relaxed soaking in the sunshine. The kids and I rode bikes numerous times a day going all around the camp and a couple times around the lake. Grandpa went on some rides too. Most of the meals were done on the grill and took some preparation. In the evenings we had smores each night. We also played some board games with the kids and colored some pictures. The weather could not have been better, 70 in the mornings and 80 in the afternoons, slight breeze and some days a little cloudy. Not too hot or humid, but ideal. We had a little rain shower on Wed morning. We really needed a big rain shower at home but only got  two tenths. Jake and Luke loved riding bikes and swimming. Luke had his shorts and cowboy boots on everywhere he went. The last morning was very peaceful. I was up before the boys and sat outside the cabin and read a book with the birds singing all around and a woodpecker tapping away. So the cabin time is not perfect. Ideally Mark and Jayden would stay and we could all enjoy it. When I load all the supplies and at the end of the stay I unload everything, bikes, food, clothes, supplies, back at home all myself, I wonder why go to all the trouble. But, I do enjoy it and I will do it next year even if I go by myself.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
