Kids' responsibilities

6/18/16 Jacob is one busy boy in the summer keeping up with all the to do’s. He is pretty amazing, not complaining. He mows our yard and his grandparents yard every week. He enjoys mowing, so that really helps and gets paid $8 each time he mows our yard. He also goes over our yard with a grass sweep pulled behind the 4 wheeler to collect all the grass. He picks up rocks in the spring and helps with the cattle on occasion. He is responsible for chicken chores. Today, he is learning how to rake hay with the 4850 John Deere. This was his first job at driving the tractor without anyone in the cab, He loved it and felt pretty good about it.

Jake has been after his Grandpa Muench's chevy truck. It is old and missing the muffler. it makes quite the noise when you rev the engine. This is the first truck Jake has driven and the only one he can see the road when driving. He loves that truck and gets to drive it on occasion down the gravel road. He just smiles when he is behind the wheel.
Recently Jake got to ride in Lynn Elm's semi. He enjoys riding in different makes and models of semis.

I could write a whole other blog just trying to keep up with all the stuff Jayden does. She is 16, has a licence, spends most of her time doing horse stuff. She also does so much with friends which I am so happy about. She recently had her friend Erica over to hang out and ride horses. She took her cousin Jaynie to the Ft. Dodge swimming pool. She helps her Dad any way that she can, washing trucks, semis, typing invoices, and cleaning the shop. She rides horses during the week with Marlee, Lori, and now Allison. All three are adult barrel racers that take the sport very serious. She started giving riding lessons to two little girls from Ogden. She takes her horse to 4H every Thursday for practice and has been since April. She has a bit of trouble keeping her room clean, bed made, and laundry done, but other than that she gets it all done and I can't really complain. She would love to sleep until 10Am like most teenagers in the summer, but her parents get her up daily by 8:30. She does daily horse chores morning and night, and rotates them on pasture.
This summer she had to take two college entrance exams in order to take college courses as a high school student. She passed her Compass test with flying colors, 98%!! That was testing her in English and Reading. Her math went pretty well, she still has to complete some of the higher level math courses.

Luke still gets to enjoy his youth and doesnt have much in the way of responsibilities. He has to keep the cats fed and check the chickens now ant then. In his free time, he loves his farm toys. He is serious about setting up a farm and the whole basement looks like a farm. He is down on hands and knees drving back and forth with planters or combines row for row. He wears a lot of holes in his jeans. He also thoroughly enjoys drving around the farms with his Grandpa's.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
