Saturday Soccer and Rodeo

4/16 Days like today are are more busy than I like and it takes some major planning. The kids and I were up early and on the road at 9 with the truck, trailer, and horse. That meant we had all chores done and all stuff loaded. We had to remember so many things. I get grief for forgetting things all the time, but I have to think for so many people. The kids just worry about themselves and I have to think of everyone. We had to have all the rodeo stuff, coolers and food. I planned to grill supper so I had to have charcoal and grill. We had to have all Luke’s soccer gear ready. I also had to have Alivia’s birthday presents and the boys overnight luggage, cash to pay for things and the video camera. My head was spinning by the time we left and we were piled in the truck when we left. First we took the horse to the arena and dropped the trailer. Jayden stayed and hung out with Makenna until rodeo time at 1:00. Next it was soccer in Gowrie. This was Luke’s very first game and a wonderful day for it. A sunny 70 degree day was perfect and I loved every minute of it. Jake and I set up lawn chairs and even Dad took some time away from the field to watch. He has been planting since Monday and is near ½ done! For once Luke was the big kid on his team. He was the tallest and one of the oldest on his team. Judging by the size of the kids and maturity I would say a lot of the kids are first grade. He is also on a team for the first time with an even number, 4 boys and 4 girls. Two of the girls have never played before. In the first few minutes of the game, Luke scored. He was so excited and kind of in shock. Last soccer season he scored once in the whole season. Not only once today, he ended up scoring 3 goals. He did a great job and really played well. He still likes to fall back into the goalie position a lot. He is not afraid to run and get right in there and can kick good.

Our next stop was back at the arena for the 1:00 TMRA rodeo. Mawgee came and got the boys to take back to cousin Alivia’s 9th birthday party and to spend the night. I sat in my lawn chair and Jayden ran barrels. I enjoyed the wonderful sunshine and even sun burned my arms. Jayden has really been struggling with her joint pain. In the mornings she is so sore. Today I had to help her put her jeans on and her shoes. It hurts her to bend her knees. I feel so bad for her, but she doesn’t quit. She said riding horses doesn’t make it any worse. She ran Ace for the first rodeo. He popped his front feet up several times before running in. This is new and scary. She ran a super first barrel and second was good too. At the third he didn’t have a great angle going in and ran around it knocking it over. That was a bummer. All the kids at TMRA run so fast and a lot of them are completely out of control. It is pretty scary to watch. After the first rodeo we had about 3 hours before the second rodeo started at 7:00. I had my little charcoal grill and we made burgers. Michelle’s brother-in-law helped get the charcoal going and even did all the grilling. For the 7:00 rodeo Jayden ran Tex. Grammer  and Allie came to watch Jadyen run. He ran a Tex run, wide first and a little wide on all of them. He still ran fast and had a pretty good time getting second place. It was a late one when we got all packed up to head home. By the time chores were done and truck put away, it was midnight.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
