Horse Game Day End of Fair

Sunday, Jayden and I were at the fairgrounds checked out of the hotel by 8. She fed Tex, warmed him up a little, then it was 9 AM and start time. First was Break the Gait. This is a favorite class and always a challenging class. The horse must stay in the correct gait. Tex did it without a problem. He picked up his leads, stopped, backed, trotted. He won it with a quick stop and just planted his feet and stood. Wahoo, another trophy for Jayden. She was all smiles and excited. I felt like the fair was a success and could go home now. Next it was egg and spoon and she took first place and a trophy in that. After the egg and spoon, all classes were outside in the blazing sun. Today was the hottest day so far this year, It never fails, on game day the sun is scorching. I gave Jayden lots of water and Tex too. The high was in the 90’s with a heat index 100. This year I found one of the only shade spots under a tree. We had the whole fan club there to watch, my parents, Mark's parents, Alice, Wade, Carina, and Alivia. Ferrari’s are good about watching most of Jayden’s events. I am not sure  the Anderlik’s have ever watched Jayden in all her years, kind of makes me sad. In the games, there were some juniors that had to have a person walk with them on foot , so that made it take longer. In my opinion if you need someone walking beside you, you probably should not be showing yet.  In pole bending, Tex ran hard and fast with a bobble at the end and ran a 24 second pattern. The competition knocked two poles, so another win and trophy. The day was going great for Jayden. She ran barrels and took second place, missed her flag in flag race, won keyhole and jumping figure eight. Wow!! She had a fabulous day winning 5 trophies today and 7 over all.
This was her year for fair. All that hard work and time she has put into this horse this year has really paid off. I am so proud and happy for her. With the heat in the 90’s, it was a relief it got over just after noon. We got Tex settled back in his stall and went for lunch in an ari conditioned Applebees. Po and the Ferrari’s joined us. Back at the fairgrounds, Mark and the boys went to the figure 8 races. It was way too hot to go out in with the sun beaming down. Luke had his heart set on it and with free passes how can you say no. They went for about an hour. then we just had to sit and wait for horses to be released at 7PM. We all think this rule is silly. It is beyond hot and the animals all need out of there. The rest of the fair is completely gone, no food vendors, or attractions, only the animals are left, therefore nobody comes out to the fair on Sunday afternoons. Mark and I sat in our lawn chairs in the barn until 6:30. He cleaned the stall and had soaked through his shirt. I helped load stuff in the trailer. Jayden got cleaned up and her and Jake went with Abby and Maggie to the Parade of Champions dinner at the Starlight. After they paraded the kids across the stage, we got the go ahead to leave. Mark took the horse home and I got all the fair projects. What a fair!
My favorite part of the weekend is when I can take a shower and crawl into my own bed in my air conditioned home knowing I can sleep in and it is over.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
