Rodeos, Wedding, Reunions

Friday night was TMRA in Boone. It was a miserable hot and humid evening without any air movement. The whole family went and got to the fairgrounds at 5. The rodeo was held on the race tracks and we had several friends come to watch. My parents, Mark’s parents, Elm’s, and the Buhr family came. Angelia sat on bleachers in the heat and she is 7 months pregnant. That is a true friend! The rodeo started at 7. As the sun went down, the sun wasn’t as hot, but it didn’t seem to change the heat. Jayden had a good run on Tex and got second. She ran against her two competitors, one being Makenna. We went for ice cream at McDonalds at 10:30PM on the way home. It was very eye opening to see the people that were in their having their bedtime snack of super size Big Mac and Fries meals. Its no wonder this country has an obesity problem.
Saturday, Jayden hauled with Spillmans to yet another TMRA rodeo. This time it was in Emmetsburg. She decided to see how Traveler would run and took him. The girls had a good time hauling and of course Makenna's boyfriend. He is never far from her these days.
I was excited for the wedding we attended as I have known both Matt Nemechek and Stacia Ferrari since they were kids. I know both families and the two of them have been together for 8 years. Stacia was childhood friends with Allie and went on some family trips with us. Matt was an AWANA helper and used to carry Jake around as his little buddy when Jake was a toddler. Little did I know the wedding was outside. It was at the Boone arboretum. It was dreadful hot and the pastor and groomsmen were roasting in their suits. It was beautiful and hot!! They tried to keep things rolling and it seemed to go fast. The thing that saved Mark and I, the programs were on a stick so we had a little fan to move the air a bit. The reception was in a cool air conditioned building with great food and decorations. Theresa N. made all the desserts, homemade pie, cake balls, and cookies.  I sat by Sharon Peterson and she made me laugh most of the night. The reception got crazier as the night went on. Stacia had a large number of sorority girls attend. The more they drank the louder, crazier and more obnoxious they got, language and all. We left by 9 and it was getting too crazy.
Jake and Luke went to the Muench reunion. Luke was super excited to bring home his auction winning. He got the largest bear family ever. Great! Where on earth will I put those! For now, he insists they all sleep in his bed with him!

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
