Another year in Williams for the 4th of July. This year Grandma Mawgee organized Alivia and Luke to ride their bikes together in the parade.
It was a little chaotic and did not go quite as it could have. They rode their bikes on the edge of the parade route along the side of trucks and tractors. That made me nervous and you could'nt really tell if they were in the parade or passing by. Hopefully the decorations got peoples attention and saw them. Last minute I was told to meet them at Weldin's house near the end of the parade route. I was walking as fast as possible trying not to run along the sidewalk as the two of them got farther and farther away. It was like dejavu all over again. Several years ago I was chasing Jacob running down the street to stop him from going to who knows where on his bike. Luke and Alivia flew by Weldins house and kept going faster and farther. before long I was running and yelling. I am pretty sure Alivia saw me and kept telling Luke to hurry up. Finally I caught up to them. They were past the end of the parade route riding in front of cars that had finished the route. It was not good. I got them stopped and bikes put up. Carina works the cook stand and came over and told Alivia to stay with me and gave me money and tickets for Alivia. She told her to stay with me. I was'nt aware that I would be babysitting all day and Alivia likes to do her own thing. While we were eating lunch, Alivia went to get ketchup on her hot dog and disappeared. There were literally hundreds of people at the park by this time. It took some searching, but finally found her in the cookshack with her mom. The rest of the afternoon, the kids enjoyed the rides and activities. Jayden sold snow cones with Megan. This year Santanna did not join them as she is getting ready for college. I got to see Jessica C. and we listened to the entertainment, The Fiddle Chicks. It was the most amazing weather for the 4th that I can remember. It must have been 75 ish. It was a beautiful day. Mark never wants to stay long, he wants to head home right after lunch, but somehow we end up last minute staying. We went back to my parents for their grill out and enjoyed visiting with Dedeckers. We didn't stay long enough for fireworks, but had a good day.
I just love how the little Williams town celebration is just like when i was a kid. Still has the snow cones, train ride, ring pop contests, cake walk, and of course everyone's favorite jumpy moon pillow.
