Brushy Creek and AgriGold

This Iowa weather is going to make me crazy. The week before the Dayton Labor day rodeo was cool in the 70's. The week of the rodeo it got hot and humid up into the 90's making it a very unpleasant weekend. The following week it cools back down and we are feeling very fallish, 70's and lows getting down to 40. I love fall weather and the cool air with sunshine, just wished we could have had that for our rodeo weekend.
We took the day off from school to enjoy a trail ride. Mark and I take an annual ride and have to go when we can. Mark anticipates getting in the field next week, so we thought we had better get it in. Jayden gets to do horse stuff all year long, so today we took Jacob. He is our little trail rider. He enjoys trail riding and did love it last year on Winnie. We knew Tex would behave and do well for him and would be the best to ride. I rode Ace and Mark rode Traveler. We took two short rides, each an hour or so. It was a gorgeous day, sunny with big clouds. When the sun came out it was very warm, when the cloud blocked the sun you were glad you had on a sweatshirt. We had a picnic lunch and just enjoyed the day. I love Brushy Creek, it is so relaxing to ride and so scenic and pretty. I am glad we got the chance to go.

In the evening, the fun continued. Mark and I went to an Agrigold VIP dinner in Ames. We arrived at the Gateway hotel at the same time as the ISU football team. We walked through the hallway to the party, walking side by side with the team. It was pretty darn cool. One by one they passed me and seemed to get taller and bigger as we went. They all had on their red sweatsuits. It seemed like there was no end. There was over 100 of them. I found it crazy that they came from a chartered bust to stay and eat in the large banquet hall and spend the night before the big game, when they are literally less than a mile from the stadium. Tomorrow is the big Iowa vs. ISU game. Coincidentally I had on my red dress, go ISU! The dinner was delicious. It was not part of our diet, but we did not eat dessert. It was a nice evening and date night with Mark. The kids stayed home all together. It was a long day for Jayden, as she had to watch her brothers from morning till night. She is amazing and responsible. Love my kids!

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
