All in A Week

9/18/15 Karen and Orrie have been on a vacation in Montanna for a week or more. This week the days seemed to be full to the last hour. Not a moment of extra time. School each morning 8:30-12:30. Monday, Jayden was really sick with sore throat, fever, and extreme tired. was taekwondo and Mark took Luke. That gave me some free time. I had Jake help me clean out the garage and wash it. That was a big project. Tuesday we got in the field for the first day of harvest. It snuck up on me. The guys put in a full day with 22 semi loads. Mark, Mike, Cory, Tony, and Linde are the start up crew. They worked in the field just behind the house. That was rough on the boys. They could hear it running and see the semis haul right past the front window. It was hard, yet motivating. They worked hard on school and could not get out in the field fast enough. It was a very windy day of harvest and warm temperatures. Jayden was still sick and I took her to the doctor. She had all the symptoms of mono and I was worried. Turns out just a virus, head cold. In the evening I had the farrier come put shoes on the three horses. Wednesday I sent dinner buckets to the field with cold meals because it is our night in Ames and we had to leave by 5. Jayden stayed home to rest and get to feeling better. I took Luke to Taekwondo and Jake to youth group. Mom met me in town and watched Luke’s taekwando class. We also got ice cream after. One week ago I decided I am going to do the Yoli plan my way. That means I am going to follow the plan, however I am also going to eat a few things that I want to when I want. One being, once a week on Wed nights I am going to have ice cream with the boys, and so I did. Thursday it rained in the wee hours and most of the morning.  I made my third batch of apple crisp this week with apples from our trees, to take to my friend Ellen who recently had hip surgery. I visited her while Jayden was meeting with Nancy for math. Jayden will go once a week to Nancy for an Algebra II/ Geometry class. I am so glad she has this opportunity, because I am afraid I could not help Jayden. Feeding the guys in the field with a crazy schedule and Karen gone has been a challenge. I will be glad when she returns. The fall harvest is here and things are full steam ahead.....

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
