Match of the Broncs #2 & A Great Date

Mark was my arena help for today's Match of the Broncs event, so the two of us were on foot setting up and running around. I was up to the arena by 11 with Jayden. She practiced serpentine and warmed up her horses. Mark and I staked the barrels with Lori . We set up barrels and poles and timers. It was a lot of running through the arena and setting up. It was a very hot day and some of the arena was deep and mushy. It was a workout. Jayden had a big fan club today. My parents came down along with Alice, Wade, Alivia, Carina, Shelley, Santanna, and Aspen and of course the boys. Jayden ran in barrels and poles. Things did not go too well. She knocked her first barrel. Her time was the fastest time of all the girls, but a plus 5 penalty put her in last. That was bitter sweet. Poles did not go well as he darted in too soon and knocked a pole. She is still learning and getting used to her horse, but it is so frustrating especially when you know so many people are watching. One day things will click for her and her horse and it will be worth all the time and hard work.
After getting home, unloaded horses, unhooking the trailer, cleaning the trailer, and taking a shower, I collapsed into bed and took a half hour nap from exhaustion.

In the evening Mark and I went on a date. He took me to an Agrigold party where they had a band and Jason Brown performed on stage in his backyard. It was a gorgeous night. They had delicious smoked sandwhiches and we all sat in lawn chairs and enjoyed the music. Jason Brown threw a guitar pick. I was thinking in my mind how silly that was. The crowd is small, it is pitch dark and grass everywhere for it to get lost in. As those thoughts went through my head, I felt the pick hit my leg and it landed in my lap. Wowza! Late in the evening, the guy hosting the party, got up on stage, sung a song with Jason B, and proposed to his girlfriend. Very cool. It was a nice night, just the two of us.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
