Grandparents

The boys spent some time with Grandparents, Mawgee and Peepaw and got in some good ol' fishing and a night of smores with Aunt Alice. This is what summer is all about!

Rylie

We returned from our trip on Friday. The boys were excited to be home and wanted to go straight to Grandparents once they heard the Muench reunion was the next day, and Rylie was going. The boys spent the night, stayed all day at the reunion, and stayed a second night and went to church on Sunday all with cousin Rylie. The boys had so much fun and got to spend some good quality time with Ry. They have really been missing him. Most summers, the boys see each other a lot at Karen and Orrie's. This was the first time all summer he stayed at their house. At Karen’s thye spent a lot of time outside until dark doing what 10 year old boys should be doing, exploring, playing, and being outside.

Day 9 Road Trip

The kids enjoyed the water park in the morning until check out time. IT was a nice way to end our long road trip and pack up to head for home.  It would have been nice to see the actual Sioux Falls, but the family vote was to get home. The kids were so happy to see their pets and know they are all ok. They worried and worried about their pets and tried locking up the favorite two cats in the shop with lots of food and water. They were relieved when they saw everyone was safe. It is always good to be home. Home sweet home!! We were so thankful for a safe trip, no car trouble, nobody needed spankings, nobody got sick, we didn’t get lost, and we had a great time! God is good!

Day 7 Road Trip

Today was our day to enjoy Cheyenne Frontier Days. I got the chance to go when I was with my parents years ago and got to see Chris Ledoux in concert. The Frontier Days rodeo is know as "The Daddy of Them All". It really is one of the biggest and best. First we took a tour of the Cowboy museum and roamed the frontier area checking out the pioneers and activities.   While we were there, the USAF Thunderbirds flew over us numerous times putting on an air show. It blasted our ears and rattled your ribs, but it was so cool! Later we saw those pilots up close. it is like "Top Gun" up close. These guys are way tall and thin. They all have sunglasses and crew haircuts. They made me feel short. They day was sunny and warm with a breeze. We got good seats in the shade on the west side. The rodeo began and went for almost 3 hours with non stop entertainment. There were so many big name rodeo contestants there.   We got to see Trevor Brazille, Tuff Cooper, Sheri Cervi, and s

Day 6 Road Trip

We got everyone up at 6:30 to pack, load, and head out. It was hard to say goodbye to our little cabin home that we loved so much. I think I could have easily stayed a whole week in that resort. We had the perfect view, nice families, and amazing weather.   We drove into Rocky Mountain for one last peek. We drove in a half mile to a meadow and everyone walked around to take in the scene and store it in our memories. We drove down the mountain and observed the many areas that the September 2013 floods affected. There were homes and major highways washed completely away. We could see some of the damage throughout the Estes park area, but didn't know how bad it was until we got home later and saw youtube videos. Next we drove to Loveland and with general directions, I drove to my old home. The little barn house was still there that was my home for a semester that I loved. It was furnished so cute, had a silo stairway and an amazing view of the foothills. I used to  look out everyd

Day 5 Road Trip

Luke has been accident prone on this trip. Nothing serious, just bumps and scrapes. He was walking into a restaurant holding Jayden’s hand, tripped over a bike rack and skinned both knees. At the resort pool, there is an edge to the pool, he was holding his breath, then popped up and wacked his head, got a nice goose egg. Another time he was attempting to get on the hammock which is harder than it looks, and flipped and fell hitting his forehead on the pole at the bottom. That one gave him a nice shiney lump on his forehead. Poor little guy. We have been to bed late and up early every morning so far. We were on the road and driving into Rocky Mountain by 8. We went on a long scenic drive to the top, elevation 12,500 feet, at Alpine look out. We had a scenic drive with trees, mountains, cliffs, curves. It was beautiful. We saw a group of Elk resting along the road. The roads do not have but a foot on the edge and yet we met bicycles coming and going all the way to the top. It is s

Road Trip Day 4

Luke woke to the sound of birds at 5:30 Am and crawled into our bed. I didn’t sleep much after that. I got up and took our laundry down to the laundromat on the resort. It was a peaceful, quiet and cool walk. I could handle waking up this early everyday if I had this kind of view and weather. Our resort had a waffle breakfast buffet for all the guests. Luke is not shy at all, he sees the neighbors and goes and joins their family at a table. He cracks me up. He also went up to another lady that he recognized and patted her and said "boo". He is such a people person. He also took his mini waffles, stacked them on top of each other with cool whip in the middle and announced he made a waffle sandwich. The rest of the morning the kids played with the neighbors riding bikes. I sat in our little hammock to read. This afternoon we went on our mountain ATV adventure. I booked this back at home and thought it sounded fun. We drove a ways out onto some back road. We were given a 6 sea

Road Trip Day 3

The mountain air is amazing, cool and crisp in the mornings and evenings and warm and sunny all day. It is a dry clean and fresh air. I woke up early and wanted to walk around our resort. I found the pool, hot tub, volleyball net, and walked through the area. It is small, yet 52 units of people. I was up earlier than everyone else, so I made a quick run to the store for milk and cereal. I saw a man waiting outside with his dog. He appeared to be  living  out of his backpacks. He had a bedroll and tightly packed bags. He was young, maybe 30. I bought my stuff and a couple boxes of granola bars. I gave them to the man who was very appreciative. He told me that it would taste much better than the oatmeal he had in his pan ready to somehow heat. Looking back, I wished I had done more. I just didn’t know how I would be perceived . Back at the cabin, I saw the neighbors had kids and were outside. They were literally across the street out our door. I took my kids over and introduced ourselve
