Anne Wilson

I knew she was singing at a young age an hit it big at 19, but I didn't know her story until I read her book. Wow, what a story it is!! Anne Wilson is a new Christian artist and receiver of the Breakout Single of the Year award at the 2022 K-LOVE awards for her debut single, “My Jesus.” Her new book, also titled “My Jesus,” follows Wilson’s story and how God brings hope in the midst of heartache. The story begins with childhood memories but then focuses on the death of her older brother and the role this played in her singing career. While she’s told this story in interviews before, in the book, Wilson allows us to truly meet Jacob Kent Wilson. I now know about her beloved brother and see him through her eyes from her descriptions in the book. I can tell just how much Wilson loves him and how Jacob is still her inspiration. I’m able to better understand the lyrics of her songs and apply them to her story. Emotion fills every word of what she went through. Toward the middle of the b

What was I thinking?

Luke had been up early washing and preparing for show day at the county fair. When I walked into the barn he had a girl braiding Joker's mane. I had to grin because these girls show up and are more than happy to help Luke out. Joker also had his tail braided and Luke asked me if I could braid it better for him. I decided I would try a braid from the top starting as a French braid. I was kind of proud of my braid and before long Luke was leading his horse to line up for his first class, halter geldings. I snapped a photo and sent it to Jayden. She messaged me right back, but unfortunately I did not open my phone and read it. She had said, "NO mom!! Take the braid out." I really don't know what I was thinking. I knew better and had a moment without thinking. Halter class you want the biggest fluffiest show tail. You want to show off a beautiful long thick tail. Many people use fake tails jut to make them look big and full. Joker has a beautiful tail, but on this day, he

Travels to Iowa

Jayden not only bumped her flight up an extra day, she also got a first class flight and did it all without paying anything, using frequent flyer points. It was a big day for Colt, his very first time traveling on an airplane. It was also a big day for Jayden flying alone with Colt! I was amazed she would even attempt to travel just the two of them.  Noah drove them to Dallas, a3 hour drive. They thought it might be easier than taking the flight to Abilene and spending extra time at the airport waiting and then getting on the second flight. Jayden allowed 2 hours at the airport and through security, then it was a 2.5hour flight, and an hour car drive here. Jayden timed everything and was fully prepared on her flight. She had Colt in his warp and he slept most of the flight. She said he did great all day. I picked them up and made a stop to grab a bite to eat. Colt got scared of the workers and cried, then as we sat down to eat, he soaked through his clothes and diaper. We didn't r

Prom

Luke attended his first prom as a Sophomore with his Junior girlfriend Abby. They started talking and attending youth group together in February. Her mother like me, limited how often they got to see each other. After a month and a half, Luke officailly asked her to be his girlfriend in person with flowers. He is such a romantic little gentlemen. When they talked in Feburary, they decided on going to prom together within a few days and then got to know each other. I went with Luke to meet her when he had to sign papers to attend her prom. She seemed very cute and giggly. Later we invited her to come to the house to meet us and Mark and I sat out around the fire pit and talked. It was awkward to say the least. Luke saw very little of his new freind other than youth group. Before long it was prom. Luke got measured for his tux and picked it up by himself. On prom night, I was invited by the other moms to come for the piture session. They knew I had a "good camera" eventhough t
