Anne Wilson

I knew she was singing at a young age an hit it big at 19, but I didn't know her story until I read her book. Wow, what a story it is!!

Anne Wilson is a new Christian artist and receiver of the Breakout Single of the Year award at the 2022 K-LOVE awards for her debut single, “My Jesus.” Her new book, also titled “My Jesus,” follows Wilson’s story and how God brings hope in the midst of heartache. The story begins with childhood memories but then focuses on the death of her older brother and the role this played in her singing career. While she’s told this story in interviews before, in the book, Wilson allows us to truly meet Jacob Kent Wilson. I now know about her beloved brother and see him through her eyes from her descriptions in the book. I can tell just how much Wilson loves him and how Jacob is still her inspiration. I’m able to better understand the lyrics of her songs and apply them to her story. Emotion fills every word of what she went through. Toward the middle of the book, Wilson explains the story of how she lost her brother to a car accident. Wilson did not hold back as she pours her heart out into the text. She explains every hard moment in such great detail. Despite her hurt, she holds on tight to the Lord. Despite the sorrow, God used this for her good and His glory. Wilson sang at her brothers funeral for the first time in front of 1500 people without even knowing she could sing. Wilson mentions the ways God intervened in her life. Towards the end of the book, Wilson explains everything she faced to get to her singing career. Wilson’s book carries a strong central message. As the name of the book implies, God can bring hope out of heartache. The heartache half gives me the ability to better understand her struggle and the hopes section fills me with a renewed sense of purpose. Despite everything she went through, God didn’t leave her in the pit of pain. The book is a wonderful testimony of the goodness of God.

Here is my favorite and her single of the year, "My Jesus"

Are you past the point of weary?        Is your burden weighing heavy?

Is it all too much to carry?                Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus

Do you feel that empty feeling?        'Cause shame's done all its stealing

And you're desperate for some healing    Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus

He makes a way where there ain't no way       Rises up from an empty grave

Ain't no sinner that He can't save            Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus

His love is strong and His grace is free        And the good news is I know that He

Can do for you what He's done for me        Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus

And let my Jesus change your life         Hallelujah, hallelujah, Hallelujah, amen, amen

Who can wipe away the tears        From broken dreams and wasted years?

And tell the past to disappear, oh        Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus

And all the wrong turns that you would    Go and undo if you could

Who can work it all for your good?        Let me tell you about my Jesus

And let my Jesus change your life        Hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, amen, amen, amen

Who would take my cross to Calvary?    Pay the price for all my guilty?

Who would care that much about me?    Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus, oh

And let my Jesus change your life            Hallelujah, let my Jesus change your life

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
