June

June is my most favorite time of year when the weather is nice. June can be beautiful and temperatures linger in the 70's. The grass is green and the air hasn't gotten so humid yet. It is a great time of year to be outdoors. 6/2 Mark and I took the horses to Brushy Creek for a day ride. 6/3 We went to Jefferson for dinner and music, I even wore a sundress. We ate outside at the Chinese restaurant, then sat and listened to a free live band. They were so good and talented. They played my kind of music, a variety of county and rock. It was a husband and wife and the wife played the fiddle so well! It was the prefect evening. Many folks came out with lawn chairs to sit and listen while little kids ran and played. It was a nice crowd, people were all dressed nice and clean cut, little girls ran barefoot in cute sundresses and couples sat together. It just made you feel good! This is what  I miss so much. Small town farm small  communities and people took pride in themselves. You just don't see that anymore. There is so much going on in our society and the changes aren't pleasant.

My good friend Amber encouraged me to join a summer bible study. It was actually a prayer group. The idea behind it was started by Amber and her mother in law Tina. The two of them are what I call prayer warriors. They wanted to pray in community, help others to be more comfortable praying out loud and in groups, and gave helpful ways to improve how we pray. I am not the most comfortable with large group prayer. The group is praying over our church, church staff, for events, for church planting, for ministries, and some individual requests. What a great plan! We read the book called The Kneeling Christian by the unknown author.

I had a day babysitting Titus at the house. I enjoy having him at our house. He likes to play with my toys, mostly things with wheels. He is toddling around and gets into things. I have to keep my cupboard doors locked. I set up a pack and play and he naps so good. Ali has a hard time getting him to nap. He is growing up and such a cutie. Still no words, just jibberish.

Another day in June, I had Bridget and Andrew for the day with Titus. I tried to get everybody outside and keep them occupied over sitting on their phones. Bridget spent a large part of the day sleeping on my floor. She says in the summer she sleeps a lot.

My friend Amber has been encouraging me as I talk to her about my ideas and goals with horses. I just don't know what and how it will all look. My hope is to use my horse to help others. Either in riding lessons or therapy and to also glorify God in the creation of horses. She invited her nieces out for a day and I worked with them and gave some lessons. It was a fun time and Amber helped and loves to be involved. We will see what the Lord has planned for me and the horses.

The end of June I met my dad at a breakfast cafe in Ames for his birthday. I wanted to treat him and have that time, just the two of us. I love my dad.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
