On June 15, the day after Jayden returned to Texas, her horses arrived. She was pretty bummed that she wasn't going to be here to see them when they got to Iowa. The hauling gal that brings the horses, made a stop half way and stalled them for the night. The horses got in around 7PM at 90 degrees, the hottest day so far. It cooled off down into the 50's overnight. The flies have been pretty horrible and the horses got attacked upon arrival, especially Joker. I finally got him covered in a fly sheet, mask, and boots. Bucky is a buckskin yearling stud colt. He is a pretty color and such a docile mannered horse. He walks up to you and will let you pet him and brush him all over. He has only been haltered twice and is taken to it easily. I have my new summer project and work cut out for me, keeping Joker ridden and start working with a yearling. Joker and Bucky run in the next to Tex and Roany and I alternate them on grass. IN addition to the horses, we have our three dogs. They are getting a little more training from me now that I know how to use the shock collar. I want them to come when called even with the biggest distraction, people driving in, company getting out of vehicles, and the trashmen. We currently have 4 adult cats +Darla, and today I caught my first of the shop kittens. I was petting the mama cat and I don't think the kitten really even knew I was there. It came walking over and I grabbed it up, wrapped it in a sweatshirt I found, and held her (Sugar) tightly in it to get home. It was pretty terrified in a cage, I hope to catch some siblings so she has some company. The goal is to get all the kittens, then get the mama fixed. The same cat had a litter last fall and none survived. They guys dont like the cat lingering around the shop getting in the way. Also, I am not a fan of unspayed cats and wild/ stray kittens. I will tame down the kittens, keep some and hopefully rehome others. We have 9 laying hens, which means way more eggs than we need. I give eggs away all the time. It is almost harder finding people to give them to. I enjoy them, they are fun to watch and easy to care for. A year ago I bought two of each of 4 breeds and it is fun to see how they look as full grown hens. They give me great eggs. I am an animal lover through and through. I am so fortunate to live where I can have animals and care for them so easily. I would not want to move away from this home that we have made.
