A week before spring break and the big Disney trip, the high school kids performed at the high school for choir and band. I thought they were awesome. Both the band and the choir did such a good job. The kids looked so professional in their tuxedos and black dresses too. There is a lot of talented singers. I am super glad Luke decided to do choir. He said he is finding his voice and learning how to sing. He has never had any vocal lessons or music other than guitar. Both sets of grandparents came to the concert to see Luke too. We all enjoyed it so much. The trip is just a bonus and such a great opportunity. I didn't know anything about it until about a month ago. Luke had to pay for a portion of his trip and we said we would help with half. He has really been enjoying being in choir and I hope he can someday sing and play guitar. The Disney trip is a privilege for the band and choir kids that want to go. It is a trip they take once every 4 years. A lot of the kids had been saving since middle school, and there are others that just didn't care to go. I was so excited for Luke to get the opportunity.
The itinerary: Saturday Mach 11, board the buses (3 Charter buses) at 5:00AM, Luke had to arrive at 4:30 because he was part of the luggage crew. The bus traveled through the day and night 30 hours. On Sunday around 11AM the kids checked into the hotel and had lunch before heading to Cocoa Beach for the day. Later that evening they went to Disney Springs to wander and eat. This was the only night the kids got to enjoy the nice pool at the hotel and only for about an hour. The rest of the time they arrived back to the hotel later than 10:30PM. Luke was in a room with 6 and got to sleep on his own sofa sleeper. Monday the kids spent the day at Universal Studios. Tuesday the day was spent at Magic Kingdom and the band performed marching down main street. I got to see and hear the video and I thought they did a fantastic job. Ogden can be proud of their kids. Wednesday the kids went to Epcot and the choir performed on stage all dressed up and sounding great! Thursday the kids went to Hollywood Studios, ending the day at the park with a light show. They boarded the bus after 9PM and hit the long road back to Ogden. A long ride through the night, the next day and back into Ogden right at midnight. It was a brutal welcome home with 8 degrees and wind chill -11. It was a viscous wind. Jake drove me in his truck to pick up Luke and it was so cold!! I was cold and tired, I can only imagine how Luke felt. He came home glad he went with lots of stories, tired and with a bad cough.
