State Fair, Kids, babies, & More

Thursday Jayden took Luke to the Iowa State fair for a few hours. They got there at lunch and were home by 6. They saw Alivia at her sheep show along with Santana and Wade. Other people they ran into were Uncle Tim, Aunt Linda, Maggie, Jaynie, Rylie and my friend, Paula (They even got a selfie together).

I babysat Titus along with Bridget and Andrew at their home. Titus was fun and he is such a good and easy baby. He is so content, plays with his toys, rolls a lot, can sit up for a long time, and scoots a little. He is 24 pounds and heavy. He is ticklish and gets to giggling so much when you raise his arms to change his shirt. It is so cute. He is a smiley and giggly baby. I left the house at 5:45am in order to get to Ali's at 7. Bridget woke up and came down right away and started watching tv. I was curious what a typical day is like for the kids, so I sat back and observed. Bridget and Andrew are home all day everyday in the summer while Blake and Ali work. Bridget was watching shows at the age of 12, that made me very uncomfortable to watch as an adult. There was nothing planned for lunch. After looking in the refrigerator I called Ali. She told me the kids know what's in the freezer to fix. They usually fix a frozen pizza or chicken nuggets. I made buttered noodles. Andrew got on a cleaning kick and started vacuuming every room in the house. I brought a project with me hoping both the kids would be interested. I had fabric hearts to cut and would sew. Bridget surprised me by bringing her own sewing machine out and she loved helping! It was great, we cut and sewed several hearts.  I get a little claustrophobic at their house because the living room is the only place to be. I wanted to get outside and got out the stroller for Titus. The kids seemed very confused by this, why was I going to take the stroller outside? why were we going outside?  When I went out, they enjoyed the walk and wanted to help with the stroller and enjoyed being outdoors. Kids need fresh air and time outside ever day in my opinion.

Friday Aug 12, Karen called to tell me Abby was having the twins. She was on her way to the hospital in Pella when she was went into labor and had to stop at Ottumwa. Within an hour baby Hank was born and taken by ambulance to Iowa City. An hour later baby Walker was born. He was stressed more, therefore he went by life flight to Iowa city. Kyle stayed with Abby and the next day they were able to travel to Iowa City to be with their new baby boy twins.

Jayden and I went to Ames, I took a meal to a friend who lost both her parents to a train accident. Her parents were driving through town at night with two sets of tracks, one with only a yield sign. They hit the train and were both killed. Such a heartbreaking situation! Jayden and I did a little shopping and met Mawgee for lunch. Back home, we saddled up horses and Jayden, Luke, and Mark roped. It was an exciting night for Luke, he roped live cattle for the first time and caught a steer for the first time. Pretty big deal! There were others roping with us so we went until it was too dark to see.

Saturday morning, I drove Jayden back to the airport to fly back to Abilene. It makes me sad every time to think she is so far away, yet I know I get to see her again in just 10 days. Love that girl.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
