August Happenings

Luke's been spending more time roping. Ever since the county fair, he has been more inspired to rope and likes to get Tex out on his own, go for a ride, then practice his roping stationary on big Tex. He is such a good horse.

My friend Jessica's grandma Marion turned 100! I think she is the only person I have ever known to be 100. She still lives in her own home in the little town of Williams. They had a birthday party for her. I enjoyed seeing these photos.

Luke mowed hay and moved hay with the semi. It is giving him some semi experience by moving it through the field. Can't believe my boys are driving semi's.

8/20 Mark and I took the horses and trailer and stayed at Brushy. I love to pack the living quarters of the trailer and overnight camp at Brushy Creek. We found an awesome spot secluded in a half circle of trees. Someone had reserved it for a friend who could not make it and they gave us the spot, we didn't even have to pay. We took our two palominos, my favorite colored horse. Mark rode Eddy and I Tex. We had some nice peaceful rides. The sky had a few rain clouds pass through. One cloud rained for awhile and we stayed on the trail under a group of trees and stayed pretty dry. In the evening, we enjoyed a band at the campground. There is a group that sits around with guitars and sing and play. I really enjoyed that and many others brought chairs to sit and listen. The fiddle payer was so talented and my favorite.

This year Alivia started her sophomore year of school and Levi started Kindergarten.

Bridget and Andrew started their school year in Fort Dodge at the same school 6th and 7th grade.

Our farm crew assembled another Salford in our shop. This allows us to get the equipment built and to customers faster than it would to have the company handle it.

The beginning of the month we assembled a Salford and at the end of the month we showcased a couple at the big Farm Progress show.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
