Weekend

4/21 Mark was invited to a fundraiser for Jesse Green. We like to support him and we also thought it would be a great chance to spread the word about the Grand Gym and maybe get some support. It was a wonderful night. I was a little reluctant thinking that it would be awkward and not enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised. Mark sponsored a table with the Phipp's and a few others from the Grand Heritage group. The first half hour was social and Congressman Feenstra walked up to us and introduced himself. He is a tall slender man of about 7 feet tall, super energetic and outgoing. I thought he seemed genuine and not the typical phony politician. He smiled, asked questions about our farming operations, and Mark got right into discussing the gym project. Feenstra told us about some grants and people to get in touch with. His little college age assistant gave me his card and said he could send a letter if we would like. We had a meal, it wasn't any good, then Jesse spoke. He has done such a wonderful job, his heart is in the right place and he is for the people of Iowa. Feenstra spoke, and then it was Governor Reynold's. Because she was chosen for the Republican rebuttal speech to Biden's Presidential address, she is know known nation wide. She is loved by so many and her standing behind parents and schools and doing all that she could to keep kids in  schools during the pandemic and keep Iowans free of  masks as much as possible, we all commend her. She is just awesome and she wears her faith. At the close of the meeting, our group slipped in for the photo and I got to stand with Governor Kim and shook her hand. It was quite an honor. We briefed her on the gym and showed her photos. She was shocked at the idea of demolishing the gym and told us we need to do everything we can to save it. She gave us names and ideas too in the 2 minutes we had our photo taken. She is a neat lady and I am so proud to have her represent Iowa.

While we were at our dinner outing, cousin Jaynie invited the boys up for supper at "The White house". The boys enjoyed it, said she is a great cook, and her house is so quiet. Jaynie moved in on Sunday and will be living there as long as she is in college. Brittney H is moving in with her later in May. It will be nice to have someone living there and to have neighbors. Friday,  I invited Jaynie to come for supper. I made steaks and after we watched a movie. It was fun having Jaynie come hang out with us, but it seems so strange without Jayden and makes me sad too. Jaynie is always around us when she is hanging out with Jayden. I wish Jayden was living at the little house with her. Saturday,  Mark and I met up with the Matin's for dinner at the BBQ restaurant in Luther. They are a couple in our connection group that Mark has connected with. They are both farmer's making conversation easy. We had a nice evening. On Sunday Jaynie was excited to join us for church. She jumped in with us and we had lunch after.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
