Purdy- Mr. Irrelevant

Brock Purdy started playing on the ISU football team as a freshmen the same time Jayden was a freshmen. She met a guy who was Brock’s roommate. Jayden was at their house twice. She met Brock and figured out right away that his roommate was not her type. She did however get to meet Brock. At the time ,the first year of his football career was over and he was already a big name in Ames. He had to go places without being seen. I had heard Brock on the radio his first couple games and then started paying attention. I heard Brock went to Salt ministry and is strong in his faith.  I started watching football on tv, listening to the games and attended a game each year. I became a huge ISU and Purdy fan. He made it fun to watch and he was so good. While at ISU Brock became more popular, breaking records throughout his football college career. I remember watching him and thinking, this guy is really talented and I think he is going to play pro. I don't watch football and I don't know anything about the NFL, it was just my opinion. I asked Mark what he thought, did he seem that good to him, he shrugged his shoulders and gave me a not really look. He told me he isn't big enough. Then, he was chosen as Mr Irrelevant, the last draft pick number 262. He was drafted by the 49ers! Taken from the internet... April 2022 Purdy, a quarterback originally from Queen Creek, AZ, had a tremendous career while at Iowa State. First-Team All-Big 12, Purdy broke his own school record and led the Big 12, and ranked fifth nationally in completion percentage with 71.7. He finished his incredible career owning/sharing 32 school records including the winningest QB in school history with a 30-17 record. With 46-straight starts, Purdy owns virtually all career school passing records: passing yards (12,170), total offense (13,347), touchdown passes (81), touchdowns responsible (100), completions (993), passing efficiency (151.1), and completion percentage. (67.7) On Saturday, Purdy was playing the waiting game along with his family in Arizona. When he got the call, the room went electric. "I felt such a relief knowing that I had a home and an opportunity to play in the NFL. This has been a lifelong dream. I'm at a loss for words but I'm so excited." Brock was drafted #262 by the San Francisco 49ers. Brock Purdy admitted at the NFL Combine he has gone under the radar although “all I need is a shot.” He’ll likely be the third- or fourth-string quarterback for the 49ers, who already have Jimmy Garoppolo, Trey Lance and Nate Sudfeld at the position.

12/4/22 When 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a foot injury during Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, backup Brock Purdy came onto the field at Levi’s Stadium and immediately made an impact. He also made NFL history with the first touchdown pass of his young career. San Francisco closed out the 2022 NFL Draft by selecting Purdy at No. 262 back in April, and Purdy earned the famous moniker “Mr. Irrelevant” as the draft’s final selection. Purdy quickly became very relevant on Sunday, stepping in under center in place of Garoppolo and leading a nine-play, 54-yard scoring drive that ended with a 3-yard touchdown pass to fullback Kyle Juszczyk. With the play, Purdy became the first Mr. Irrelevant to throw a touchdown pass in a regular-season NFL game -- and gave the 49ers a 10-7 lead. Purdy threw one touchdown pass during preseason against the Green Bay Packers, and Sunday marked the fourth game he has appeared in during the 2022 NFL regular season. The Iowa State product threw for 66 yards on 4-of-9 passing against the Kansas City Chiefs near the end of the 49ers’ Week 7 loss, and in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals, he made a brief appearance and rushed for three yards on three attempts. He also rushed for a 1-yard loss on one attempt against the Carolina Panthers. Purdy became the 49ers’ backup signal-caller when second-year quarterback Trey Lance suffered a season-ending lower leg injury during Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. During that game, Garoppolo came in and led San Francisco to a win. With the stakes extremely high on Sunday, Purdy appears on track to do the same in an incredibly similar situation. He closed out the first half by giving the 49ers a 17-10 lead over Miami with another touchdown, this time a 3-yard pass to running back Christian McCaffrey. With Garoppolo ruled out for the rest of the game, it’s unclear just how long Purdy will be manning the offense moving forward. But he appears more than ready for the job. Welcome to relevancy, Mr. Irrelevant.

12/10/22n his first NFL start, 49ers rookie quarterback Brock Purdy got rocked during the very first play of the game. The brutal sack on the opening play was flagged for roughing the passer, and Mr. Irrelevant was nearly flawless the rest of the way. The poised 22-year-old helped San Francisco get its sixth consecutive win with a dominant 35-7 win over the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Levi's Stadium. In what was supposed to be a special homecoming for Brady, who is from San Mateo and grew up rooting for the 49ers, all eyes were on Purdy. He is making quite a name for himself   I looked up info about his last game and for some reason they have dug into his girlfriend. Why on earth that is all over the internet, I feel sorry for them. Everything is public knowledge now. She was born Oct 1999 a couple weeks before Jayden. She made her relationship known publicly on Nov 5, the same day Jayden got engaged. I think the thing I like about Brock so much is he wears his faith. He remains humble and gives glory to God. I am now officially a SF 49ers fan!!

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
