The Judd's

Naomi Judd, the Kentucky-born singer of the Grammy-winning duo The Judds and mother of Wynonna and Ashley Judd, died Saturday. She was 76. The daughters announced her death on Saturday in a statement provided to the Associated Press. “Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness,” the statement said. “We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.” Naomi Judd died near Nashville, said a statement on behalf of her husband and fellow singer, Larry Strickland. It said no further details about her death would be released and asked for privacy as the family grieves. The Judds, Naomi and Wynonna, were to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday and they had just announced an arena tour to begin in the fall, their first tour together in more than a decade. They also made a return to awards shows when they performed at the CMT

April 2022

There was so much going on in the month of April, I can't even remember it all. We had lots of memorable moments for the month, most have an individual post, but here is some of the extras.  4/26 I went to Bridget's band concert with Karen. She has been part of the honor band. I am not sure all the reasons, but her mom is having her quit. I think it is important for kids to be involved in things, especially if they enjoy it. With nothing to do, no sports or activities, boredom sets in and kids get into trouble easily.  4/28 My cousin John's son Johnny was in Ames for basketball tournaments. I were able to meet up and watch two of his games and to have lunch with them. It was fun to see the 8th grade boys play basketball like NBA players. They are so good! It was fun visiting and getting to know Anne. She is very personable. Mark has been hosting more roping nights. I enjoy going out and riding and helping for awhile. It just gets to be a long night. Mark runs the steers in

Purdy- Mr. Irrelevant

Brock Purdy started playing on the ISU football team as a freshmen the same time Jayden was a freshmen. She met a guy who was Brock’s roommate. Jayden was at their house twice. She met Brock and figured out right away that his roommate was not her type. She did however get to meet Brock. At the time ,the first year of his football career was over and he was already a big name in Ames. He had to go places without being seen. I had heard Brock on the radio his first couple games and then started paying attention. I heard Brock went to Salt ministry and is strong in his faith.  I started watching football on tv, listening to the games and attended a game each year. I became a huge ISU and Purdy fan. He made it fun to watch and he was so good. While at ISU Brock became more popular, breaking records throughout his football college career. I remember watching him and thinking, this guy is really talented and I think he is going to play pro. I don't watch football and I don't know

Weekend

4/21 Mark was invited to a fundraiser for Jesse Green. We like to support him and we also thought it would be a great chance to spread the word about the Grand Gym and maybe get some support. It was a wonderful night. I was a little reluctant thinking that it would be awkward and not enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised. Mark sponsored a table with the Phipp's and a few others from the Grand Heritage group. The first half hour was social and Congressman Feenstra walked up to us and introduced himself. He is a tall slender man of about 7 feet tall, super energetic and outgoing. I thought he seemed genuine and not the typical phony politician. He smiled, asked questions about our farming operations, and Mark got right into discussing the gym project. Feenstra told us about some grants and people to get in touch with. His little college age assistant gave me his card and said he could send a letter if we would like. We had a meal, it wasn't any good, then Jesse spoke. He has don
