Mother's Day Weekend

Friday Mark and I celebrated "wrapping up the planting season" by going to Des Moines. He had a long massage appointment in Ames before we headed to Des Moines. We looked at the Nissan Infinity vehicles and are still deciding on our next vehicle. I have been following the Jeep Wagoneer and  want to hold out for the big release. It was supposed to come out in 2020. It will be the first Jeep full size SUV and I really like the looks of them. We met Chad and Linda P at a nice restaurant and had a nice visit and meal.

Saturday We invited the mamas over for Mother's Day to grill and fix them supper. Ali made her big announcement that she was expecting. She found out last week and couldn't wait to tell everyone. She told me right away and tried to keep it from the kids, but told them the next day. She is super excited and I know they have been waiting a long time. I am happy for them and pray for their future with a growing family. Bridget and Andrew are getting more shy around us as they get older. Andrew looks at the ground and doesn't talk much. He will warm up and likes to run around with the boys. Bridget just shrugs her shoulders when you ask her questions. Eventually she will warm up most of the time and then can be really chatty. She too likes the boys and laughs a lot with them.

Sunday we went to church in Ames and out for dinner. I hadn't had pizza in a long time and was craving it. Old Chicago has been one of my favorite pizza places. Today our pizza was doughy and terrible. We complained and they brought us another pizza that wasn't much better. Lunch was very disappointing. For Mother's Day, Mark made me his own little card with hand picked lilacs. Everyone knows I love lilacs. It made me so sad not to be able to smell them. We take smell for granted and lilacs are one of those things I love to take in the lovely aroma. Jake was creative and made me his own coupons for things he would do for me. I love it! Jayden sent me the cute shirt "Loved Mama". I sure wish she could be home for special times like today. I just wish she was closer.

Luke and I went to a graduation later in the day for Rylee G. Her family is our connection group and the leader family. Great people with lots of lovely girls. Our boys are sweet on them.  Rylie will be going to a private Christian college for nursing. She is a sweet girl and super pretty. Jake has set his standards for girls by comparing to her. He has set them high. She is an exceptional young lady.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
