Home for the Holidays

Tuesday, Dec 15 Finally my Jayden returned for winter break along with Noah. It was so great to hear the sound of her loud truck pull in the driveway, even if it was 2:30AM. I heard it a good half mile before she arrived because I am a light sleeper. I met them at the door and got them situated. Jayden brought her pup Sage home for Christmas break too. I didn't like the thought of a dog in my house. I wondered where she would stay and how I would keep her off the carpet. I didn't want her to smell, shed, or pee. She was so darn cute, it only took a few minutes and my plan went out the door. She had free roam of the house and was so much fun. She would play fetch and slide across the kitchen floor. She loves her toys and plays with them and carries them all over. She was almost perfect. She had a few accidents on my carpet, which was very upsetting. 3 accidents in 1 month wasn't too bad. I just wish it wasn't on my carpet. Luke loved every minute of Sage. She is such a sweet dog and will sit in your lap. I let her give me kisses and she likes to kiss my ears. She wags her tail and her whole bottom wags and she puts her ears back and licks you. If I could have a dog like her that didn't have accidents and didn't smell like a dog, I could have one in the house.

Jayden had a ton of Rocking J orders to fill and shop, so she worked most of the day. I think Noah was shocked at how cold it is here. When he  helped Jayden with chores and would come in so cold. Jayden bought herself a new saddle with some of her business profits. She said it was a Christmas gift to herself. It looks good on Joker.

Thursday my parents wanted to see them both so badly even if they had been exposed. They met in Ames at Hickory Park for lunch. In the evening, Noah, Jayden, and the boys went to Boone skiing. I think they had a good time. I heard Noah was trying big jumps, he got some air, but did a lot of crash landing too.

Friday started early with searching and tracking deer. Noah was anxious to hunt in Iowa. One of the first days home he took Luke to get his hunting license. The kids alarms did not go off and they sleep later than the hoped. Jake slept in while the rest went. We had a late breakfast, and late lunch. In the afternoon, Jayden and Noah went to get groceries in Boone. Mark and I went to visit his parents. They seemed so much better, I was finally feeling better about their health. I fixed a big meal and was sad not to taste anything. Just before dark, Noah, Jayden, and Luke went looking for deer. After supper and dark, they went searching for coyotes.

Saturday we made snacks and appetizers to watch the Iowa state Football game. In the afternoon Noah took the boys and went to help Jake buy a pair of rims and tires. He is always buying and selling rims, tires, and vehicles. Jake got a good deal on a set and put them right on his truck. Jayden went to Libby's baby shower. Mark and I have stayed home since we have been having symptoms. In the evening I had Noah and Jayden open Christmas stockings I had prepared for them. Noah was so excited their matching stockings and thought they were so neat. I think he enjoyed the stocking more than the gifts. Mark and I got those stocking when we were engaged and I have used them as decoration all these years. Noah, Jaden, Luke, and I  played a little game of bean boozled with jelly beans. I had an advantage because I could not taste, but it was entertaining. I even got to briefly see Noah and Jayden two stepping in the living room. It was pretty much adorable.  Jayden and Noah seem very happy together and content. They are cute and sweet to watch. Luke and Noah have formed a brotherly bond too that is fun to see.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
