June 25th we went to Iowa City to celebrate Mark's cousin Suzy's 50th birthday. Her triplet sisters put on the party at Kelli's home. Mark, Ali, and I rode with karen and Orrie. It was unbearable hot and the idea was for everyone to be in the garage and outside. It was just too hot. There was a large crowd of family and friends in a small space and no mask wearing. It was a nice party and it was fun to see the triplets. At one point I ate an almond and chipped a tooth. It seemed like it would be a simple fix, It turned into a crown to which I had to have 3 appointments with 4-6 shots each time. Ugh!
Jake met with the head leader of the Escape high school youth group from Cornerstone. He invited Jake to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings, which happened to be his favorite. I was so impressed that they reached out to meet with Jake. I am assuming they are meeting with each of the kids, but not sure. There has to be a few hundred kids in escape. He did encourage Jake to join the Leadership group, which I would like him to do. It would be great if he could be more involved and get to know more kids and be involved in leadership.
Over the weekend, he kids put a coat of primer paint on the garage at the fancy house with Grandma.
Mark and I went to a fundraiser for Jesse Green who is running for senate. He did an amazing job. He is an excellent speaker and everything he says and does, he gives glory to God. We need more politicians like him! I think he will do well and go far, he has God on his team.
Wednesday morning the kids and I painted a couple coats on the floor and ceiling of the garage at the fancy house. Grandpa Orrie showed up to sit in a chair and watch. I get a little annoyed at people that just watch you work and don't lend a hand. He talked non-stop and shared how much he enjoys watching people work. Grandma Karen was working non-stop helping us with the paint, she is a hard worker no doubt! She has more aches, pains, ailments than anyone, yet she keeps working. Jake went on to work at Nate's. He likes to work for Nate and get paid and when he can, he works on his own car.
