Saturday Mark went with Jayden to her barrel race in Dallas Center. It was held outdoors in a large open area with no trees anywhere making for a hot one in the sun. Jayden took Ace, who ran a good pattern, but didn't run very fast. Joker took his second barrel wide, so that slowed his time a lot.
The boys and I went to Grand Junction for some practice golfing at the driving range. We had a good time whacking balls as far as we could. The sun was hot and the grass dry and crunchy. We are still learning and we all enjoyed it. I had packed a sack lunch that we ate at Spring Lake before wading into the water. We took floaties and sat in them and floated around the water. It was calm and relaxing. We had to make sure we were far enough out in our own space to really enjoy it. When you are close to people you hear too much, way too much. inappropriate conversations and foul language. Of course we had to get some of our favorite ice cream, mine being chocolate amaretto cherry. Once we got our ice cream, we decided to eat it on our floaties. Jake accidentally flipped himself backwards and held his cup of ice cream above water. Everything was submerged in the water except his ice cream. I don't know what he was more upset over, almost losing his ice cream, getting a face and mouth full of water, or getting his favorite hat wet. This is my kind of fun.
In the evening Jake went out with his friend David with plans to go back to the driving range. He must have enjoyed it. There was some spotty rain and Grand Junction got some heavy rain. In Jewell there was stormy weather and hail. The radar showed rain clouds to the north, so we weren't prepared to get anything. Out of nowhere it poured down some nice rain and we got 3 tenths. The crops and yards needed it so bad. Things were looking brown and the corn was starting to roll. We need so much more, but that saved us for now. The clouds were so ominous and neat to see.
