The new look has a lot of white. All cabinetry is white. The bathroom is elaborate and has a lot of fancy tile. The fireplace mantle is my favorite. I really like how it turned out.
This was our first house after we married has always and will forever be called "Aunt Betty's" because Mark's great Aunt lived there. After we moved in 2003, Linde and Julie lived there several years, then our hired hand, Cory. It had been empty now for about 3 years. It needed new windows and the bathroom needed some renovating, that was the original plan. Mark enlisted his sister Melinda to help, soon it turned into what I refer to as "The Fancy House." We figured someday it would be a house for Jake. He likes to hold on to the past and loves to keep things that were in the family. He is very nostalgic and wanted the house to stay the same. He loved the dated walls, old cabinets, the history of the house and everything about it. It was neat and clean and livable. Melinda had a different plan and has her style, white and pottery barn style. Walls were taken out and everything white was brought in. The kitchen and utility room are almost identical with all white cabinets, granite counter, and industrial sinks. It was hard for Jake to see all the changes. I was in awe at how much went into the new look and how amazing it all looks. I worry about the white in a farmhouse and keeping it clean. I know how farm life is, not one of clean and white.
We moved in some furniture from my Aunt Alice's home. She had a very nice couch and love seat, along with a dresser. Melinda bought new mattress's and white comforters for the bedrooms.
The rooms were finished in June. If I am being totally honest, I have to admit it is hard to see this amazing house that was fixed up so nicely. It is not going to have renters or family living in it at this time, maybe eventually, perhaps soon. We also fixed our shop so nice and fancy with elaborate showers and fancy offices. Our home that we live in, spend all our time in, never seems the priority to be fixed up. It pales in comparison to these others. I like our home, I am not complaining that I want a better house, just to maybe spend some of the effort and money to fix our place, the home we actually live in. I don't think our kids should live in a fancy house as their first home. They need to start small and simple, rough it a bit and build a home for themselves. Jayden is experiencing that with "The Struggle Shack". She will appreciate nice homes someday that she works for.
It will be interesting to see what becomes of the house, who lives there and who will visit. Will it become a BNB, will relatives stay there, who will be the first to rent? I wouldn't mind going up and staying to get out and way from all the male species in my home now ant then. Ha Ha
