Day 33 Back to OK

Another day waking up to snow on the ground. This time it was a white powder lightly covering everything. It was very cold , but it did melt fast. My girl loaded up her trailer, hopped in two horses, gave hugs and headed south. It was extra hard to see her pull out of the driveway. I had so many mixed emotions. She kept saying, Ill be back and why is this any different than when I left for college? It is different. She is leaving with 2 horses, heading south to Oklahoma with so many unknowns in the middle of a pandemic! I was not thrilled with the idea, but I could see the excitement in her eyes. Life is a journey, she is young and living her dream, going on adventures and living out her goals. She is older now and we have to let go and help her make good decisions on her own.  Luke was extra emotional after she left and told me he really missed her. She is the only person who he can be silly with, that makes him laugh and smile. He said he really needs her during this social isolation because he can't see his friends or be around other kids. It made me even more sad to see him so sad. He has always been very attached to his sister.
Jayden's plan was to return to her house in Alva where one of her roommates would live all summer. She would have her horses to ride and a few friends that are still in town to hang out with. I think she is thinking and hoping that she will return and it will be all fun and friends the way it was when she left. She also wanted to take some time to go see her friend, Shark. They have been keeping in touch and missing each other. He has been begging her to come to the hunting ranch he lives on, bring her horses and all.  Well, 24 hours before she was ready to leave, she found out her roommate Zarin was leaving for home, which meant Jayden would be in her house in Alva alone, something she doesn't like. Roommate two, Morgan invited her to stay in a little town near Oklahoma City with her. None of this really made sense to me, but we are giving her the freedom to choose and go where she thinks she needs to go. I just didnt like that she is going during a pandemic. I will pray for her and trust in God's plan. We remind her she can always come home anytime.
Mark started planting today. He has some good employees now, so this year for the first time, he had them get it started, aligned, and set-up for him. Lately, he has been able to come home for supper, then head back out. I really like not having to run a meal out to the field!
Jacob wanted to help Grandpa Wayne in the field. I let him go Thursday and Friday, however grandpa's tractor broke down. Jake was sad he didn't get to run but a few rounds.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
