Day 24

Everyone's idea of how far to take the social distancing is very different. For example, Hy-Vee, which I have avoided, has arrows on the floor in order to keep the flow of customers apart so nobody crosses paths. This seems completely absurd. They also have dots on the floor as to where to stand, plastic shields at the checkout, and almost all employees wearing gloves and masks. On the other hand, Fareway has early morning hours for the high risk and elderly, otherwise when you shop it is as if nothing has changed. That is the environment I want to keep. Today Jayden and I went to my chiropractor. I can make an appointment without any problem, yet most medical clinics won't see patients for routine care.  Then I went to Menards and bought some storage cabinets. In the store it felt pretty normal and an employee even helped me load my items and strap. If an employee works in a store all day and is around a couple hundred or more people all day, I figure my going to a store to get what I need is only exposing me to around 12 people. Do we really need to get so carried away?

Mark has been in the field for the past 3 days, that means meal runs to the field. I have never enjoyed taking meals to the field. For some reason spring is more dreaded. It is always such a challenge getting a meal to Mark for lunch while I am trying to homeschool, fix lunch, eat, do dishes, and run a meal out. Day one I cooked a stuffed chicken breast and had a knife and fork. Because Mark claimed he couldn't eat that kind of food very easy in the field, he left half of it.  I was a little irritated, the next day I sent a bologna sandwich in a container. He told me that I should send it out in a plastic bag because the bread dries out. Again he ate a few bites and I had to throw it out. I think leaving the food is his way of making a point. One evening I made steaks so when he got in he could enjoy one. I broiled them over bell peppers. The steak was huge, I planned on cutting it in half and saving some along with peppers for another day. With all that is going on  grocery shopping and buying meat is a challenge, I feel like steak is a delicatessen. Mark looked at the food and asked if I had any sides to go with it. I couldn't help but feel irritated. He ate all the steak, peppers, and chips. His mama spoiled him so and it makes it really challenging to prepare food. This family has never ever been deprived of food, in fact never deprived of good quality food. It would be good for the whole family if we had to ration food and eat simple. Nobody appreciates good food and I am getting a little tired of expecting and making the best all the time. My family is spoiled!
I hired a painting crew to do my garage and today they came and finished painting the garage floor. It looks very nice. I have to wait three days before driving on it. Then I can put up my cabinets and organize.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
