Random thoughts about COVID
I wonder what they will call the generation of baby boomers that will be born in about 9 months, the COVID boomers? There are many parents out there that haven't had to parent, haven't had to discipline, teach, feed, and train their children and are now home 24/7 with kids. Parents are used to leaving for work and sending their kids to school or day care. Now many are home with their kids all day. Now they get to really be parents. It will be wake up call for them, and some are trying to homeschool for the first time. I fear for broken homes with chaos, abuse, lack of food, and mental illnesses. I am sure their will be a rise in alcohol, drugs, and suicides. Marriages will either become stronger, and for some, divorce. So many will lose jobs, lose income, and lose many things because of this. The virus itself won't be near as damaging as all the things that will happen as a result of the time in isolation. If we shut ourselves in our homes, how can we build an immunity to sickness? This is one virus of many out there and many more to come. How will we respond in the future? is this the new norm every time a bug comes around? How will people carry on after this with the germ hyper-awareness? How will this affect school kids and their education, and how many kids will develop anxieties from all this? So much to ponder. I hope those in control can see what we are doing is not helping, but only hurting the problem. The Lord knows the answer to all of it.
Day 11, I saw a post today, the first case in Webster County. It draws itself near, but I am not afraid. I have the big guy upstairs watching over me.The Lord knows and he has a plan. He is my rock and my refuge, I chose faith over fear.
I saw another post today that McFarland clinic is reducing staff and limiting patients being seen for minor appointments in preparation for COVID. They are letting some staff go, some are furloughed, all in preparation for the worst. People will be missing appointments, surgeries, and much needed screening, etc, along with job loss. Are the pros and cons really being balanced out here?
