Hidden Acres is such an extraordinary camp site and the location for many church related activities. It is located in a timber are with lots of land. There are cabins and lodges for staying scattered among the twisting and turning roads surrounded by trees. There is an INN for guests that prefre a more hotel like stay. There are campgrounds, canoes, horse rides, a small lake for canoes and swimming, and a small pond with kayaks. The dinning lodge is newly built and phenomenal. It is super large and modern to hold many campers or retreat attendees. They could hold some nice weddings but have to keep those limited. The family Life Center is another wonderful feature with a giant wood fireplace, enormous gym with two basketball courts and an indoor pool and hot tub. They also have miniature golf, zip line, shooting ranges and targets, and rappelling towers. You could say they have it all. The camp is famous for their outstanding giant chocolate chip cookies. They are served almost daily. Both Jayden and Jacob had jobs and worked there last spring/summer. They hold family camp, homeschool camp, church retreats, pastor retreats, sportsmen retreat, and so many more. They have a full summer camp schedule, then have retreats year round. Mid October the ISU ministry "SALT" had a weekend retreat with near 1000 students. The 25-27 Jake had his Escape high school retreat. Then Oct 18-20 Luke had his middle school 180 retreat. All of these are put on through the Cornerstone church. It is such an awesome time for kids to spend time in fellowship together, having fun, being silly, praising God, worshiping, and digging deeper into the word. I love that they can take the kids out of their normal routine and help them focus on God all weekend. I remind the kids how fortunate they are to get to attend the retreats and be with their friends. I would have loved to do something like that as a kid and I am sure there are many kids who would love to get the chance. OF course we have to pay for the stay that includes several delicious meals. The time they spend there is priceless.
This year was Luke's first retreat and he was so excited to go and so tired when he got home. He had a great time and could'nt wait to go again sometime. One night they had a themed party and the kids could either dress as a baby or an elderly.
The boys both had a fairly nice weekend averaging around 50/60 degrees.
