Jayden has been enjoying college. She rides most nights, has been roping, even impressed the roper boys the first night she roped live cattle, catching every time. She surprised herself. She also has been taking a few break away roping lessons from a local gal, Teddi. Jayden followed her rodeo team and went along to the first college rodeo of the season in Kolby, Kansas. She rode in a Mustang with a girl who's dad competes in the NFR. She has a steer wrestler friend in her class who is the college finalist champion named Bridger. Her coach Stockton is an NFR Steer Wrestler qualifier. A girl who won the American's sister is another one of the girls Jayden knows. She is definitely in with some elite rodeo competitors.
There is a football player named Shark interested in Jayden. He took her out in one of his dune buggies and drove super fast through the nearby sand dunes. Jayden even cinched her hair on the hot engine. She said he owns several off road vehicles and has a sweet Dodge Ram that is a twin to her truck, but with all the extras super cab, fancy rims, etc. He even rotated the tires on her truck for her. Now if that doesn't say I like you, I dont know what does.
Recently Jayden was sick, down with a serious tonsillitis sore throat, plugged ears virus. She was having a rough time and the doctor told her it was a virus and to take tylenol for the pain. There were several rodeo team members sick too. She would call me several times a day and talk for long periods of time. She was so bored and couldn't ride or go anywhere and was home alone most of the time. I think she really missed her mama. On Sunday, she called me 5 times to talk. She finally went to the doctor a second time and got some meds. After that she was on the mend. She even had a rodeo team steer wrestler bring her chicken noodle soup. The guy was from Canada and in one of her classes and she really didnt know him too well, but he must of liked her. He brought the soup and sat and visited her for awhile. I thought that was super sweet. Another day he invited her to go roping and when she got to the fairgrounds, he already had her horses caught and loaded in the trailer. What a guy! The things these boys will do for a girl! I get such a kick out of all her stories.
On the negative side of things, Jayden has been dealing with mice. We saw a little evidence when she moved in, but we thought that problem was in the past. One morning Jayden woke up to scratching in her closet and discovered mice. She did a lot of cleaning and reorganizing. She had to plug up a hole into her room. She found a lot of evidence in the kitchen and was so grossed out and really wants to move. She had been making meals, but after this she refuses to. One night she called me around 10:30 carrying on that she saw a mouse run by and got stuck in her sticky mouse trap. We were on the phone for a long time laughing and screaming and planning how to get it gone. Jayden had her gun out and was ready to use it. I told her to use the tazer. Eventually Blonde Morgan came home and used a bow and arrow to get rid of it. Being on her own, Jayden is having to cook her own meals, she doesn't have a meal plan and is finding that eating out is expensive and the same thing over and over gets old fast. She is having to clean and take out the trash because her roommates wont do any cleaning. She has all the responsibility of taking care of her horses, feeding, riding, and hauling to competitions. She has to keep her truck maintenanced, fueled up, clean. Pest control has been a new ordeal. Oh yeah and there is the actual classes and homework that seem to be the least of her worries. I have sent a couple care packages, something to give her a little boost. I pack of homemade chocolate chip cookies and some fun goodies, a cute shirt
I am so thankful that she likes to talk to her mama. She calls me, texts me, and snapchats me every single day. I love that she likes to talk to me and tell me about everything that is happening. Sometimes I can tell she is just bored when she calls, other times she has a lot to tell me about.
