We invited our good friends, the Buhr's to come and visit. They came on Saturday and spent the night. With Jayden off to college we had the perfect room for them to stay. They brought both girls, Lizzy and Abigail. Luke got to help Abigail doctor up Pooh bear. She is at an adorable age. Becasue it was rainy, we didnt get to spend much time outside like we hoped. We did saddle a horse and gave some rides to the girls in the arean. We grilled steaks and had a nice dinner. Abigail was upset she didn't get to say the supper prayer and did some some screaming until she could fall asleep. Oh those toddler years.
Sunday morning I fixed Swedish pancakes for our guests, and we went to church at Cornerstone in Ames. One thing I have always loved about Cornerstone is their desire for others to know Jesus and to share that with the next generation through college students. In starting with a group of 8 families and growing the church into what it is today has been a phenomenal journey. Today was an anniversary and celebrating the church and how it has grown. They currently have 14 college ministries, 4 in Iowa and the rest in the Midwest. They continue to church plant and grow. God is good and the laborers are many in this church.
We went out for lunch with Buhr's, their friends -John and Jean from connection group at Provisions before they headed back to Cedar Rapids. Angelia is scheduled in December to have her second major surgery at Mayo to remove cancer and repair what the Iowa surgeon messed up. It makes me sad that she has to go through all that horrible surgery again. She is an amazing friend, strong in her faith, and I know she will persevere with God on her side.
Last week I went out to eat with Carolyn, Sue Ann and Laura. This is our 5th lunch outing over the past few years. These ladies, I have all met though Cornerstone. Over lunch, Carolyn brought her photobook of a trip to the beach with her and Ken. She brought it to get us thinking about a trip, then proceeded to invite us to go on a girls trip! She was beaming and giggling as she talked so excited. I felt so flattered to be asked. I was happy to even be considered and loved the idea.
Today while at Cornerstone, I saw Carolyn and she asked me if I had talked to Mark yet, he happened to walk by just then and told Carolyn I should go ahead and enjoy it. I was so surprised as I had only brought the idea up to Mark and we hadn't even discussed it. He just gave me a yes, go ahead. I didn't know what he would think of the idea of us going out of the country and all. I am so grateful for good friends and the opportunity to take a girl's weekend trip! So excited.
