Our friends invited us to attend an ISU Alumni banquet fundraiser. Dan is an alumni board member and very involved in ISU alumni matters. IT didnt appeal to either of us but we wanted to go for our friends and knew it would be a little escape from all the sadness. Angelia would be having surgery the next week and wanted to be there for her. The tickets were $100 a seat, so that was our contribution. The funds went to support first generation college students. It is a neat program supporting kids coming in to college that have never had a parent or any generation beyond attend college for various reasons. There were silent auctions, raffles, and live auction with paddles for bidding. Many of the large biddings involved elaborate vacations or bed and breakfasts. The auctions were in the $1,000 range. It was a dress-up occasion, so I pulled out a dress I felt would work.I didnt have time to shop for a special dress and knew I would'nt likey wear it again. It was fun to see all the ladies roll in wearing their formal full length gowns. Some were elaborate and some more casual. Angelia had been attending for many years and had a darling floor length dress. She is a classy lady always looking her best. We had a great meal and a fun time. There was live actions, raffles, and a few speakers. We decided we would likely go again.
