Boys And Dating

Thankfully Jayden and I share a close relationship and she is open with me and talks to me about most everything, even boys and dating. Last fall she had a boy interested in her and they were messaging. He wanted to get to know her and vice versa before they actually went on a date. So, they decided to go for a truck drive. That seemed not the greatest idea to me. They got in his truck and drove to Perry and back,  an hour each way. Of course she didn't tell me until after the fact, and I was a little freaked out and had a long talk about safety and how bad that idea seemed! She said she never felt unsafe and knew the people that knew the guy, however they really didn't hit it off. They didn't share the same interests and didn't have the same humor. She found him to be kind of dull and boring. She told me his name and since it was a Webster City guy, who was a state wrestling champion and attended University of Iowa for his first year in football. Ok, those are pretty b

Wintery Week

2/16/19 Saturday late in the day, we were layered in fresh new snow. We stayed home from church on Sunday because the roads were slick. The snow was so white and fluffy, we even got some big new snow drifts. Tuesday late into Wednesday more snow accumulated and began blowing. The public schools have missed a lot of school this winter. Friday we got more snow and it started to drizzle ice by 8PM. We took Ali out to dinner for her birthday in Fort Dodge. It was starting to rain ice and the car was covered in ice when we arrived home. Luke was feeling under the weather and tired. Saturday was a full blown blizzard, with a mix of snow, rain, ice and even flashes of lightning and thundersnow. It was a strange day of weather. By 10PM it began blowing with wind gusts up to 50mph. Wade has been working for the DOT driving a snow plow this winter, putting in crazy hours. During storms like this he will work a 12 hour shift. Saturday the snow was treacherous and many roads were closed and imp

Remembering Rose

ROSE  I will hold the memories of my Aunt Rose close and write them down so as not to forget. When I think of Rose, I think of smiles, kindness and a big heart. I also think of Angie. She was my childhood best friend and bestie cousin. Dean and Rose lived in Gilbert when I was very young. They moved to Williams when I was 5. I cant recall much from those days, however I  have seen many pictures of Angie and I as little girls with matching outfits. Aunt Rose liked to sew and would make us matching outfits. I It was very exciting when their family moved to Williams just 2 miles from my home. Angie and I started Kindergarten together, dance, and AWANA. Rose made sure to get all 4 of us kids, John, Angie, Wade, and I to AWANA every week for many years. Rose and Dean were leaders and members of the Missionary Alliance church in Blairsburg. We would drive each week in the blue Mirada. I used to get car sick every time I went anywhere in that car. I think it was the constant strong odor

Growing Business

January sales...Jayden's little business has really taken off. She keeps selling totes and recently purchased an order of hats. She created a brand and logo "Rocking J"  and had it put on her hat and ordered a variety of colors. She sold several as soon as she listed them. One of her buyers is a guy she knows from college rodeo from Nebraska. He specifically requested she send a hat that she autographed. He wanted to have her name on the hat for when she becomes famous. I thought that was cute and sweet. Jayden's most recent order of totes came on Friday and I had to ship them out for her on Saturday because she was gone. She had all kinds of packages and boxes labeled and ready for me. One person bought 4 totes at $50 each. She is quite the little business gal. Late fall, Mark ordered Muench Ag sweatshirts, so each of the kids got one for birthday or Christmas. They wear them with pride and the boys fight over who gets to wear theirs when they go places. Heaven fo

Remembering Alice

Alice will always have a special place in my heart. I never want to forget her kind loving spirit. Her smile and the joy she brought everywhere with her. She was so sweet and gentle, caring and generous. Recently I got to see photos of Alice as a child, and in high school. She was the first homecoming queen of Northeast Hamilton. That tells you she was loved by many in her school. She was also a basketball player and I have enjoyed seeing photos of her playing ball and I also found a photo from 4H showing cattle. She went on to the University of Iowa for the nursing program. After going to Albuquerque as a nurse, she met and married Rod. I never got to know Rod very well, but from what I heard, he was not good for her. Alice was in our lives so much even when she lived far away. She would fly home for holidays and a few times a year staying a week at a time. I remember looking so forward to those special visits. When I think about my aunt Alice, horses come to mind. She has al
